Hi all. :wavey:

I don't know much about bikes and have never commanded anything more gutsy than a Vespa, but almost a year ago I started hanging with some cute boys who also happened to be bike crazy... and now I'm developing an interest and working on becoming a hardcore pillion! :D

The hooks for me were the stories of community and y'all looking out for each other, waving when passing and helping out broken-down strangers.. stories of peace and freedom and independence and challenge.
Plus umm.. how hot are boys in leathers? :msn-wink:

I'm the opposite of you, riding pillion scared me to death, so I've bought my own bike. Had my learners for 1.5 weeks, so far it's no more scary than learning to drive a car.
The Mr never liked carrying a pillion, and he doesn't mind following me on slow paced rides. Eventually he'll get bored riding around at 70, I'll have to get some leather pants to keep him keen (silver to match the bike perhaps). :rofl:

No. I've had a few offers to have a blat on the back of people's bikes (which is lovely and thoughtful and thanks to those guys!!) but when I think about going to meet a stranger from the internet and jumping on the back of their bike.. some kind of survival instinct kicks in.. so it hasn't happened yet. ;)

I'm keen to go down to the toy run next weekend if I can convince Allun or Slash to take me! :D That will be a great place to meet KBers and decide who is on the scary list and who I'm happy blatting with!

I'm still using the bike for work but haven't ventured into the 'lane splitting' scene yet. One day..

Seriously, get a 150. Mine was less than $3k and it's gorgeous (photo in my profile). It's small and light, it has enough power to pass stuff on the open road (according to Clint who rode it home from Auckland for me), but isn't going to get away on you unexpectedly.
