But that would mean I have to get wet, and it's got a scooter next to it to break the fall (not sure about what's next to that, or that, or that, or that, or that...)

Yes, and I almost cried! The most Ironic thing is that we were all looking out the window, watching the shit storm coming in and just as I said "I hope that my bike doesn't get blown over" it did. With the whole office watching.

Famous last words Hels. Was it that side that got winded last time?
You could buy a Hardley next, more of a challenge for the wind.

Hehe, yeah I do. But I prefer to use my airhorns.... ;)
Bike seems ok, no scratches on the fairings thanks to the plants that it landed in. Went to lunch and had a Kingfisher strong beer, its very sedating....

Hey sorry to hear that - it is bloody shite weather outside. You need to cozy up to one of those KPMG partners and get the bike in the staff car park:Punk: I managed to get in the good books with services staff so had my key card access the carpark:shifty:

Oh man do I wish! I have access to the carpark but unfortunately as bikes are the devil incarnate cant use it. Well actually the truth is the only place that I can park it is always well full of Vespas and other ghey assorted scooters. :violin:

Suck - is that the official word or are you just assuming? I just took it in there and never had a complaint, then a few weeks later everyone was doing it. Those bloody scooters seem to be taking up more and more room in bike parks around wellington:(

Well I could park it in there, however its a first in first served rule and seeing as Ive decided to start work an hour later (at 8) I always miss out. Ah well shite happens, might look at parking it elsewhere, especially in the winter months!

Its by choice, I can choose my hours on a day to day basis. I used to start at 7 and go straight to the gym after work at 3.30. I now got to the gym with a mate but she doesnt finish work until 4.30 hence the 8 am start.... I enjoyed starting early and finishing early it gave me the afternoon to go riding....

Yeah, hope your bikes OK!
My bike will be fine as long as she starts when I want to go home and the mirror is nothing that cant be fixed with a bit of aroldite (sp?) knead it and duct tape. I think its gonna take alot for her to die on me, almost blew her up last night...

Fucken Aye!! My man took it out for a blat last weekend and the oil was full, so ust didnt think about it, dumb I know. On my way home last night I thought that it just didnt feel right, checked the oil and viola the tank was ALMOST empty, if I hadnt checked it when I did Id hate to think what would've happened! Duh!
BTW, those bloody Featherston yocals made my bike stall you know.... sewing machine on wheels pffft!

Good place to park your bikes in crap weather in Welly is the James Smith Building. Ride around the barriers (yes, they let you) and park by the spiral. Perfectly dry and free from getting blown over.
It's okay having something like a ZX-10 which won't really fall over but I don't really want some crappy scooter falling onto it.

nearly got blown into a ditch yesterday....coming back from palmerston...coming around the corner other side of whangahu, gust of wind caught me and blew me hard left...took a bit to get her back to the middle. dunno what my speed was, but was sitting on around 5500/6000revs and felt like i was standing still.
seems to have dropped right now, but was very strong earlier in the day.

It's a bit different for a 2 stroke. They have a separate tank which mixes wih the petrol.
Wasn't a good night for oil then. What with Dreamers problem and now you.

well it was a lesson learnt! NEVER assume that your oil tank is full just because it was a few days ago! My problem is that ive only just started riding my bike to some of its full potential so its actually using the oil like it should.... A tank of oil used to last me forever!

Small world - I too work in that building and park outside Farmers on Victoria St. Never had my bike blown over (yet!!) but don't park your bike on the end of the parking space as I had some crap driver clip the front wheel and knock it over for me. Bent the handlebars, smacked up the throttle grip and folded the number plate in half. At least they had the "decency" to pick it up again!

I used to park my bike in that very carpark, until someone stole the toolkit from my old bike :weird: and then when I got the KR whoever it is that rode the maroon hayabusa used to squeeze their bike right in next to mine. I couldnt get out the park unless I moved his mirrors, in fact I couldnt even start my bike from where I had parked it cause its a kick start and the guy was parked soo damn close that I couldnt even put the kicker out to start it. So I park it outside work with another bike, I work with the guy whos owns the bike so I know he aint gonna do anything like that.
BTW RnB- which floor do you work on?...

24th February 2006, 15:57
Str8 - I'm on the 7th floor. Yours must be the bike parked beside the CBR400. Often wondered where the owners of those bikes were.
Str8 Jacket
24th February 2006, 16:54
Ha, yep it sure is. That CBR is a beauty the guy who owns uses it solely to go to work and back (from Brooklyn) he wont go on any "decent" rides which I think is a waste, but each to their own I suppose. Im based on levels 3 and 8, small world indeed!!

I was parked up at Kelburn yesterday (ZOMG free bike parking booyah bizzy biznatch!), and I had to leave my precious out in that awful weather... :(
What is the accepted best way to park your bike in a prevailing wind? Leant towards or away from? I'm thinking towards, but can't be sure....
