After sitting in a cage 3 nights in a row with chronic rush hour traffic brought on by Cage accidents.... I have come to this conclusion:
Why is there no incentive in this stupid city for bikes???
They reduce traffic congestion... why dont they encourage this?...
They also reduce parking as they don't take up as much space...
I bet this has been brought up a million times... but ask Rayza about my last week in the traffic..... Tuesday was rediculous, just because one lane on the North Western had a crash on it, every feeder to and from the m/way was at a stand still, as was the entire m/way from the city west.... it took me 2 hours to get home... i was reminded countless times via txt that i should have ridden my bike that day.... oh, hindsight is a wonderful thing.....
The icing on the cake was tonight's trip home.... there is a 2 car crash, off to the side of the fast lane... 1 ambo, 1 cop in attendance, cop is putting cages in fast lane into middle lane... i'm in slow lane following a red car.... as we get closer, his break light stays on.... directly opposite the crash, he comes to a complete stand still.... just staring at the crash, i could see his head clearly.. (yes, i had my glasses on)... clear lane ahead... i count to 5.... he is still looking and completely stationary (no reason to be stopped).... i sit on my horn :Oi: he looks left, back to the crash, waves like a thank you wave, and starts to accelerate away.... Can you say "Worst rubber necker in the world"..??? he takes the next off ramp 20m away, and i accelerate to 100km/hr as there are no cars on the road at all, they are all still behind us, poor suckers.....
The congestion he caused by stopping and staring filtered back for ages, and i felt sorry for all the cages behind... i felt bad honking, but how else was i going to give him the hint to move his ass??
Why do cage drivers insist on seeing what all the fuss is about???
Ps. was all made better when i got home to fine my new KB shirt in the letter box!! thanks Spankme.. and a chocolate magnum mini in the freezer...

Human nature I guess. Like all the dicks that have to go to the scene of a fire to have a look, scene of a crash to have a look. Just stay away and let the emergency services get on with their job, you could be putting someones life/property at risk by getting in the way.
I can understand wanting to have a look if it's safe to do so and you're going past anyway, as in this case, but to stop or slow down thus causing further disruption is not on.
I know someone who has a scanner so he can go and watch the fire brigade put fires out - loser.

Of charity - perhaps the vehicle was similar to one driven by someone he knew/relative/family - and he was making sure it wasn't them. If I saw a crashed vehicle the same as Mrs Ixion's Sunny I'd want to take a GOOD look to make sure it wasn't her.

couldn't you just stop in the layby if your that worried about it being someone you know? rather than hold up hundreds of late, tired, angry road users

Totally feelin' this rant, and I don't mean to bash auckland but it seems to be a major auckland thing, per head of capita I've seen it thrice more here than anywhere else in the country.
And crikeys I could go for a magnum.

Tuesdays super-blockage...
Wasn't that just the best!!! Had just shot into Colemans for some bits and on the return it had just happened - 5 cages all splat! Filtered all the way from mid Pollen Island until past the crash scene. Someone in my helmet was laughing like a lunatic at all the cages stuck on the M'way... It IS times like this when being on 2 wheels is medicine for the soul!
And then after the crash scene, there was an entirely empty motorway...:blip: :blip: :blip:

heading to paeroa....took me 2 hours from turangi to taupo. not due to accidents, but the goddam round the lake runners and their support vehicles. i felt bad for the cars having to sit at a dead stop, while i split down either side after my legs feel asleep due to hanging down the side of the bike. :sherlock:

Thrice? Yea verily didst thou know that 83% of statistics are made up on the spot?
It's just human nature, the more you're held up the more you want to have a good gawp. What really pisses me off (and this is classic M25) is being held up for bloody ages to find that the accident is on the other carriageway and it's only rubberneckers on your side slowing you up....

Why would you feel bad using your horn?
It amazes me that people will sit behind someone doing something stupid and not give them a blast.
Then again, I have Italian genes, so driving/riding and sounding the horn is second nature.

I agree with the horn comment - Kiwis are far too reluctant to use the horn. And it is quite satisfying if the person you are honking at shits his/her pants as they realise they are an idiot

Totally agree there Lou... Kiwi's can be WAY too passive at times... must be our Pommie heritage or something, you know the whole, " don't complain and make a scene" thing.
Hell the airhorns on the BM get a regular work out when riding around Auckland... it's probably just as well we aren't allowed CCW permits (concealed carry of a weapon) over here or there would be carnage on the motorway at times... with me speeding off and re-holstering at the same time.

Feel the same way Lou. Kiwi's are so pathetic with the horn (shouldn't I rephrase that?? )
It's embarrasing when the horn on the honda is better than the feeble horn on the holden:pinch:

I get pissed at anyone who gives more than a passing glance, your there to drive so fucking do it! if that guy had stopped in front of me i would have been hanging out of the window "sharing my feelings" on his poor driving etiquette
I'm the same with people who don't pay attention at traffic lights, i was sitting behind some twat yesterday and the lights had been green for about 10secs before i told him about it and then the asshole gives me a dirty look?
Cagers suck ass!! :ar15:

A friend of mine was injured in a car vs car collision last year and she was sitting in shock for a while watching other drivers go past, who were checking out the scene but not stopping to help.... :(
She's all healed up now though, and just got married!!

According to statistics, the average person has one breast and one testicle.

I followed a wanker boy racer doing 70 km down the fast lane.I held the horn on and initially he gave me the finger but after 50 seconds his bimbo must've started to abuse him,so he began to act flustered and pulled over.
Gave his mirror a tap as I went past.
The very best is when they slow to rubberneck and the incident is on the other side of the motorway
