View Full Version : PADDOCK STANDS Mk2. ARE READY

Hi Guys,
I have finally got the MK2 stands back from the powdercoaters. So they are ready to go.
Smaller batch than last time.
Main differences from the MK1 are:
1. The lateral adjustment is done by screwing the lifter in and out. This means once you have adjusted it for your bike you don't have to adjust it again. There is a chromed nyloc on end to help wind the adjuster in and out.
2. The frame is more square in its shape.
Overal look is kinda cool and modern and I am pretty happy with this innovative design for the MK2.
A number of you have PMed looking for a stand so you get first shout.
I am getting bobbin hooks laser cut this week, which will screw into this frame so you can ask for one type or the other, or both!
Last time I said the price was at least $100 after which you paid what you thought it was worth.
This time I think it would be better to be a bit more precise. Cost is $110.
Welcome to come round and try for size. I am getting straight on to making the next batch.

Single sided? Front stand? Not yet maybe in a coupla batches or so. This time round I am interested to see how the bobbin hooks work out.
Next design? Much the same I guess. A tweak here and there. No thoughts yet.

hah, I already do, just using the swingarm hooks tho, but with the bobbins, zorst etc, it makes it hard hooking it up. Thats why I want bobbin hooks, nice and easy.
With swanman's over-engineering of the thing (awesome having confidence in it), I use things called muscles to just hoist it up. You being a little fella struggle with your toy bike... :nya:

Mate I'll make em for $25. Would be great if you could come round again and try em out. I might even make them while you wait, take about 1-1.5 hrs. I notice your bobbins are enormous so i'd be very interested to see the fit of the hooks on your bike.

Cheers. Yeh I'm pretty happy with these. I looked at the micron stand, I remember the shape and colour are pretty similar to mine.
BTW I made one of these stands extra heavy duty to see how it worked out. I.e heavy guage wall thickness and heavier lifter supports. Decided against making more of them as the cost went up a fair bit and took a bit longer to make than the others. I would say it would handle a 300kg bike no worries. So if you have something particularly heavy it will take it.

Iam currently painting the exterior of a house during the day, except when it is raining. So if Tuesday is wet then that'd be a good day. Failing that the following weekend would be fine.

OK, been meaning to get around to thanking you for the arms, and giving you a little plug at the same time :yeah:
If the rest of you are looking for a rear stand, the mkII looked pretty flashy, with a few shapely curves in them. Couple of adjustments from the mkI definitely make them nicer, but with two sets of arms, I prefer the sliding arms of mkI.
For one set of arms, the threads for arms make a lot of sense, don't move as easily, and don't have the little securing nuts to get bent  Stupid zorst.... :bash:
Cheers for that Fraser. $150 has got me a strong stand that will take both swingarm and bobbin bikes. And I get to support a KB'er having a bit of fun designing them and making them.
You lot check them out if you are interested... just get the turnoff right... silverdale is nothing amazing

I just took delivery of a MkII and I'm very happy. Thanks swanman - it was a pleasure to deal with you, and not only is the stand excellent but you wrapped it up very well so it arrived (courier) safe 'n' sound. I'm no engineer, but the stand seems plenty strong enough and certainly does the job - it fitted my SV650S no problem and held it nice and stable.
Damn - now I don't have any excuses for not oiling my chain...!
Thanks!

Have now got the stands fully developed. They are the bizz.
Here they are in red. Have bobbin hooks laser cut and zinked. The angled lifters are also zinked. There are nylon protectors under the stand to protect the paintwork. All in all very happy with this final product.
Price is still $110.

Yeah, make that two people interested in them in the south island, so let us know what the cost would be.
Just like everything else I've bought in the last 9yrs, I'll buy it first then work out how to use it one handed!

you should be fine, you would just have to be a little bit more careful placing it before lifting the bike up

Thanks sAsLEX. Could someone who has got one of these stands try it one handed for me, I'm keen to get one so it would be good to know what I will need to do, if anything, to use it. Right hand for those that don't know.

I reckon you could do it one handed no probs. I use my knee and my right hand to push the stand down anyway. You can actualy push the stand down with your foot and steady the bike with your hand.

Will fit your bike fine. (I see you asked a question on TM.) $15 delivery for south island. A little cheaper if you buy through KB instead of TM.

Well we've got our stands, and am well impressed with the quality. Very sturdy, well finished and did exactly what they were supposed to with minimal fuss. What more could you ask for?
Check out some pics here (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?p=641622#post641622) using the stands
