Well after looking at the different exhausts available for my bike and the prices they are going for I decided to purchase a Yoshimura RS-5 (slip on) for my Blade.

Ordered it direct from the States and had it in exactly 7 days!! Bloody good service and bloody good price too. Paid about $540 including freight delivered to my door.

It took about just over an hour to fit, the thing that took the most time was fitting the new adhesive heat shield.

Looks awesome and sounds wicked!.

They are a reputable Ebay power seller.

Copycat! Have you noticed any difference to the power delivery? So is a Power Commander next on the list? Mind you, when we're out we ride so close we could probably share one.

Fishy
28th February 2006, 09:18
Maybe a little difference in power, there aren't any flat spots through the rev range. Power commander can wait I reckon. K & N's are next.

No pun intended?

I'm surprised that more people don't buy specialist bits from the USA.
Better choice, better price, and you should be able to get exactly the right thing. If you use the big firms that advertise in the US mags there shouldn't be any risk of striking a shonky dealer.

With a slip-on a Power Commander may not be necessary, but it might be good insurance to get a dyno base run done to check the bike isn't running lean.

Grahameeboy
28th February 2006, 09:51
I looked up that Site and I could pick up 2 slip ons for my SV for around US$500 or so which is way cheaper than here even after turning into NZ?

Doesn't sound like you need to do anything to mapping?

Fishy
28th February 2006, 10:09
Nah Im not gonna bother with running it on a duno unless I get a power commander (which I'm in no hurry to get).

Im definatly going to use them for an exhaust on my next bike with prices like that. Sounds like good service also.

Fishy
28th February 2006, 10:24
Yeah I got top notch service from them. Got emails straight away informing me of when it was being despatched and then again when it had left etc. Had it delivered in 7 days. Thats pretty damn good.

It always eases the process when they keep you informed, your not left worrying if the money is gone forever! Ive always been very cautious buying things on the net.

Fishy
28th February 2006, 10:34
Yeah I'm always cautious too, using Paypal is a good way to go as you are covered up to $1000US. I purchase a lot of stuff from overseas and have never once had any problems. Touch wood.

Seems like it sounds and looks good aye. :)

Might pay to check on your plugs after a run to make sure she's not running lean. Sometimes the new cans can release a bit of back pressure that the bikes originally tuned too.

Backfiring is a sure sign of a required retune.

Be interesting to see it and hear it mate.

Hasn't backfired yet, but will check plugs after a good ride perhaps?.

Bike will be back together this Friday hopfully if not then by Sunday. Just need a new rear loop now and a free weekend so I can actually ride the damn thing.

1st March 2006, 13:11

Fishy

I think these injected bikes can automatically compensate a little bit for changes in the air/fuel mixture...just an end-can should be fine...full system and filter and you'd probably need the old power commander.

pretty....... shiny.... gimme gimme gimme, Lol, I don't think they make performance exhausts for the bike I'm getting (170cc)

Fishy

You could get one custom made but not sure if it would increase performance on something that small?.

on the subject of getting bits from overseas, i just bought a "Fender Eliminator" aka tail tidy from BallMoto, cost ~$40NZ. it arrived in a week, fitted it last night and I'm VERY pleased. Would recomend them as well, I see they do a nice one for the blade :msn-wink:

Good stuff TTG, fender eliminators are very expensive in NZ (around $325). I ended up doing my own job of the factory fender and mounted the plate a lot higher.

Actually I had a couple of Micron mini-cators that i got for xmas quite a while ago, but I could have used the original indicators. I noticed in your pic that you'd had given the rear guard a bit of a trim....

Fishy

Yeah the factory fender is HUGE!. Got rid of that a little while ago. See before and after pics...

See before and after pics...No offense intended to you at all Fishslayer, you have a choice bike there, but the only likeable feature of the undertail exhaust for me is that the lurvely swingarm is fully exposed! Hmmm i wish mine was...<_< might have to get meself a high-rise pipe!

Here she is;

The Fender eliminator comes with a rego light and LED lights and bolts directly onto the 2 connections that the old mud gaurd uses.
