great, now we have to deal with these buggers too in the city, I don't one or two of them, but shitloads of them? No Thanks.

Wonder how many people will be mounting their bikes on the back of the cars and "cycling" to work?

so if we bring our bikes down there do we qualify for eggs & beans as part of our 'healthy' lifestyle breakfast?

So what we really want is a bunch of bikers sitting at the side of the square eating big plates of greasy food and having a rollup?

sounds like a plan to me, at least when we get to work we won't be sweaty and tired and filthy from buses exhaust fumes........freaking health nuts!!!

Last Sunday they had a family "ride round the bays" for bicycles in Wellington. Oriental Parade - Evans Bay Parade.
What a shambles, riders 6 abreast all over the road. (which wasn't closed nor were there any warnings until you actually arrived at the start point and saw the "Cyclists" sign, too late to turn back)
Little kids of about 5 or 6 with no road sense at all holding up cars and weaving all over the place on their kiddy bikes, while panicked parents yelled at them.

The road is really unforgiving - sea on one side, cliffs on the other.
It's a wonder no one was killed.

The marshalling was shocking, and to top it all off they had silly plastic discs on footpath to mark the route, which promptly blew into the road to trip up cyclists and get crushed under cars.
The only thing it would have encouraged me to do is take a bicycle straight home and lock it in the shed, never to be used on a public road again.
I suspect most of the cyclists had no idea how risky it was, or what a major inconvenience they were causing...business as usual.
