will a vfr400 front end work on my bros650? the forks are both 41mm so im thinking the whole thing would be s straight swap?
heres the vfr i may buy for the forks and other bits, how much would it cost to ship that to palmy??

Depends on how you are planning on doing it, are you replacing the just forks/wheel assy or including the triple clamps?If you are using your existing triple clamps will the new legs fit them (are the fork legs spaced the correct distance apart)?If your replacing triple clamps as well wil they fit your steering head?
You can make anything fit but it may not be straight bolt on procedure. Go for it and let us know what happens!

hmmm i see, i'm fairly sure they wont be much different as the bros and vfr use very similar frame and suchlike. i'm going to give it a shot anyway:msn-wink:

okay the vfr400r nc24 has a 16 inch wheel, if i do a fork swap how would i mate the bros650's 17 inch front wheel?:mellow:

Just buy the VFR, rebuild the engine, and you've got a proper sportsbike...seems like a good option.

believe me its tempting. very tempting. argh stop invading my mind with good ideas! when [if] i win the auction ill have to see how rebuildible that vfr is. im getting a new job soon anyways......
but i really dont want to dump the bros650 especialy now cos ive spent so much on it:sweatdrop but i do love the idea of a streetfighter vfr400r mmmmm:rockon: although a bros is more powerful

Sounds easy when you say that, but what if the fork tubes are different length between the two models?
Then there's that whole spring too tight, or bouncing up and down thing.
And what if you put the VFR forks into the Bros triples and the forks are too short in length? How good are you at maths?
You'll need to be to work out the correct length of the dogbones to get the steering geometry right again.
If I were you I'd forget it, buy some Progressive springs and Race-tech valve emulators.
Or maybe just change the fork oil... :blink:

Use a CBR400RR front end. Otherwise you are just wasting your time and money. There is no point putting a 16 inch front wheel on, It will stuff the handling up and you can only get average tyres. The whole point of changing the front end should be (styling aside) to improve the handling and brakeing ability. If you use the VFR forks (unless it is NC30) you will not get much inprovement over the BROS ones and will need to make addaptors for the bros wheel to fit. So no improvement to brakeing due to still having a single disk. Sounds like a lot of hassle for very little improvement.
The hot tip for front end conversion is CBR600 forks, all the guys that raced GT Hawks in the states used CBR forks, prob wont find any as cheap as these. Not sure the VFR forks are any better than yours, unless yours are bent after your biff. How about fitting the Bros motor in the VFR rolling chassis? :Punk:

The 600 springs are too stiff for a Bros. And the damping rates still need changes to suit the bros. The 400 one is a simple conversion. The spring rate is very close and the dampining only needs slightly heavier oil (make your own 12wt by mixing 10wt and 15wt)

the forks are bent but they are pepairable, i was considering having the originals fixed then using racetech progressive springs and racethech gold valve emulators. i'll be on the look out for a cbr400 front end though:chase:

ah the forks are bent.
there isnt much size diff between the vfr and bros though so whats the point? i might just buy that vfr to do the engine as a project:sherlock: :devil2:
