View Full Version : Wellington: Wellington Newbie ride Sunday 12 March
Uncle B
2nd March 2006, 22:38
This is a chance for newer riders to get togeather and head out on an organised ride.
THIS IS NOT A RACE.....we don't want anybody crashing as it will be a fun day out.
Go at your own pace, there will be people who will wait for you.
Make sure your bike is road legal ie: warrant, rego, chain oiled and adjusted, tyres the correct pressure......
Townies: Meet at the caltex truck stop Hutt road Kaiwharawhara 10:15am for 10:30am departure.
All others meet at Caltex Rimutaka 11:00am for 11:20am departure.
LETS MAKE THIS A GREAT DAY
Also looking for experienced riders to help out with back markers and to share riding tips and any questions the newbies might ask.
I have been asked about the "L" plate debate. I cannot enforce the usage of "L" plates but do point out the consequences if caught.
The "L"s will be catered for by having their own group with an experienced rider who will know the determined route.
See you there :niceone:

Will confirm attendence later next week.

As I was riding two up, from the top of the hill back towards the hutt. I got overtaken by an Aprilia RSV 1000.
This guy overtook me through a completely blind corner and he was midpoint in the oncoming lane going into the corner.
Think again dude, coz had you been seconds later you'd have been collected by the truck that was coming into that corner and you'd not be feeling so good. Nor would I, coz you'd have been deflected straight back into myself and my wife, taking us out too.
However, I would have still had the ability to get up and lay a boot into your dead corpse.
What were you even thinking in the deteriorated/greasy road conditions?
Please, don't take rediculous risks fullstop!
Do yourself a favour and don't go putting other riders at risk!
Unfortunately, I didn't recognise this rider otherwise I would have given a dirty PM.
I do know it was NOT Kerry from Sawyers. It was somebody on a similar bike though.

I watched you guys take off as I was finishing my coffee & saw the RSV overtake a car right on the summit corner and then continue to partake in some rather extreme overtaking on the way down.

Was a good turn out. Well done to those 250s I was riding with. We all got back ok (except our 150 friend?) depsite the sh1t conditions on the hill. Was bit chilly when I left the top with VasWar and others. We ended up passing about 50 cars on the way down. That Horsefloat guy really should ahve pulled over.
Cheers Uncle B, you are a legend.

Yes, it was me.
I don't know what happened. The last thing I can remember was the steering shaking violently and trying to get it under control and the next thing I came to in an ambulance. I was only going slow round the corner because the road was quite wet.
Jeff was behind me and found me lying face down on the road out cold. Apparently I was out to it for some time.
I am home today, just aching and sore and my head still feels a bit groggy. My bike just needs a new footrest but I will have to get a new jacket because the people in the ambulance and A&E took to it with scissors and everything else I had on my top half.
I should be back on the bike in a few days.

Hi qpideo, where did you put the bike into? I'm looking to get mine serviced and tuned so I'm looking for somewhere good but cheap.
I've heard that the guy in J'ville is quite good. Any dealings with him?
