What type of helmet are you using and do you have any pics?

Mine is currently the FM Endor with the Magic Roundabout characters on.

I've had this about 3 years, back when I drag raced cars - before I managed to get into bikes. Not too bad but you do get a few problems with the mechanism for swapping visors, the plastic tends to snap easily on the mounts.

Um , very sorry, I thought it might have been a buffy cutout , camera focus playing tricks. Not that your wife looks like buffy .... um where's that post delete button.

Black FFM flip frount for my wife and myself. Will be going red next lid to match my motorcycle ;-)

No pics, but I could find one later.

Especially the FFM logo has gotten a few interesting looks and offers from people..

I have an HJC CL14 in black.

Before that I had an Arai Giga.... The HJC is heaps quieter then the Arai. Don't know why I put up with that POS Arai for so long.

I too have a HJC CL-14 in black. Tinited visor also.
Must be one of the most under rated helmets around I reckon.

Mine's an HJC CL-14 in silver and blue (to match the '10) with a black visor. I do like it, nice and quiet. Comfortable too.

My CL-14 was freaking noisy when I rode this morning without my ear plugs. I love my ear plugs. Have to make my exhaust louder though :).

Like this.
Except it just about never has the clear visor on now, I use the mirrored/tinted one.

Probably might have to do with the fact that I have quite an effective fairing and makes the helmet quieter....just a theory.

skelstar

Fair enough. The helmet was quieter than my CS-10, but since wearing plugs everything is going to be noisy.

Currently wearing a Shoei Raid 2 Obelisk, same graphics as pic. I alternate between tinted and clear visor depending on day/night riding and it takes a mere 2-3 seconds to change. Overall the best helmet i've ever owned, light as, good ventilation, and not noisy! :yeah:

I've go a HJC CS-12 with tinted visor, it's ok but at about 160 - 170 it moves back on my head and gets pushed against my face, does anyone else get this? cause i'd be keen to get one that doesn't cause it's a pain in the ass.

A pickelhaube? A damned fine choice, you'll cut a mean dash in that.
Not much protection mind, they're normally made of leather or some times even papier mache type stuff.

Got a 2003 Nolan [insert quirky model part here]

Grey base, and blue ribbons and grey tribal prints. What the heck was I thinking...

Temple vents, bald spot vent. Probably preferred the helmet because of the clasp used, essentially a rachet type with a plastic (5cm) tab that inserts and clicks up.

Probably on the heavy side, but good noise reduction. Could ride a ring-a-bloody-dinga for three hours and still hear.

Next : prob something in bright yellow, depends on next bike. I'm a fashion slave.

HJC CL-14 in smoke.

Only complaint is it fogs like a bitch at the slightest thought of cold weather.

I've got the HJC HQ-1 aka Carbon Fibre helmet. Upside is that it's very light. It is lighter than my Shoei x-11 even though they're ment to weigh the same. Downside is that sometimes dust can get inside the helmet. Also the visor gets a bit difficult to pull up and down.

An Arai NR5 or old faithful HJC AC10 Aaron Yates Replica. Both bug spattered and scuffed!
The Arai is the first one that has fitted comfortably, since my first Arai in 1972! Its a bit noisy though.

That is a cool helmet... I remember watching Magic Roundabout late at night when I was on holiday with my friends... I love the rabit that sounds high...
I want that show!

My AC 10 is good for 270kph, is it too big, maybe look at a smaller size?

My main road race helmet is a Suomy Spec 1 R. Top model for the Suomy range I think. Costs quite a bit but money well spent due to high comfert level, light weight and being very quiet.

My spare road race helmet or wet race helmet is a HJC CL10 (I think). Just a cheapie but very practical and has saved my head more times than I can remember.

My Supermoto/Offroad helmet is a Fly FL-303. Not the flashes of it's kind but it does the job very well. Good ventilation and reasonable weight.

My road riding helmets are also HJC ones, some CL10s and some the next model up. Agian, I'd say that HJC are probably the best value for money helmets out there!

Bought a Zeus flipfront for $240. It;s okay but I wear earplugs with it and it's a wee bit heavy compared with more expensive brands, but much better than my (very) old previous full face. Hope to get a better one soon, but the Zeus is not bad.

I have a Nitro N510V. The mechanism to change visors isn't too good. Doesn't work too well so I tend to try not change them very often, although I do have a clear and a tinted visor.

A bit noisy but fits my small head well.

Are there any legal problems in NZ with black/tint/mirror/Iridium visors?

Mooch
4th March 2006, 05:44
Not so far , only issue has been with cars with tinted windows , your allowed 35 % max.

I ran a dark visor 6-9 months of the year , saves the need for sunglasses.

Here's the helmet I wrote off last weekend at Manfield.

This Helmet did a fantastic job, for those that don't know..... I highsided somewhere between 90-110kph and landed head first on the track.
1 week later, I have no sign of any injury or even bruise, thanks to a compilation of good riding gear. I highly rate these helmets.

Here's the replacement helmet I've now received. First one ordered into NZ through the Shark distributor for inspection, before being delivered to me.
Yeehah!

The RSR2 is Shark's topline helmet, Looks great with the Black Visor

After my wipeout last weekend. My Brother In Law was so impressed by the Shark helmets. He went and purchased this one yesterday.
So he now has all the gear, he's just awaiting the arrival of the next shipment of Black Hyosung GT250R's. Then the Welly crew will have one more newbie!

I just got a cheapy (to start with), got two helmets with the bike I got but they were fornicated, so I went to MotoGB in Tauranga, and got me a plain black HJC CS-10 on special ($119). I'm gonna get the gold mirror tint on it soon, and I want to get a ZEROINDEX sticker printed to go on the back of my helmet, as soon as I find out where to go
