Got our mits on the Kiwi Rider long termer for the weekend.

Another tall man's motorcycle! And man it goes. I was VERY suprised when I checked the specs and it's only 75 horsepower. Would have banked on 20 more easy. It's got nice long legs and I set a new PB for hi speed on the dirt this arvo. Really enjoyed it.

There are some gripes - stupidest fuel gauge ever, possibly the ugliest exhaust system ever, fairing, front on, by the Daleks - but apart from the gauge they are subjective/taste calls and it does have some very nice lines too.

Overall a really lovely motorcycle. Not as good as the Buell for carrying a passenger but a very capable sports/touring bike when riding solo. I'd have one.

Discovered the perfect ride for it too. Out to Tapora - the peninsula in the middle of Kaipara Harbour. Perfect roads for this bike. Sealed sports bike sections mixed with smooth twisty gravel.

Then back to the Puhoi Pub to wash the dust out. What a day - I'd pay to be me.

Man I went up and down a few times once on a zxr then on scootah how many times did you go up and down im sure I saw you a few times I was heading back a zxr (tristans) black shoie, tined visor and black ervit top with jeans...

Interesting looking bike Dave. I would of liked to of been at the lookout when you were there and checked it out, I'm quite fond of the adventure / tour type motorbikes.

How did you find it on the gravel, I'm assuming the tyres were stock, so does Ducati select the best for all scenarios or is this purely built with 'rough' sealed roads in mind.

Avon azaros on it.
It's like the Buell - a capable 'all roads' motorcycle.
It went nice on the dirt (very fast I did, i did) and it carves on the bitumen.

I like this style of bike because they are so tall too.

good effort nice bit of road the top of sh16, woodcox is one of my favourites, tristan came off it today looking pretty happy, he rear tyre was balling at the edges...

weird. for a "all roads" capable bike i would have thought it would have had more ground clearance...

it might just be a bit of deceptive photography, but it looks like your foot peg is only an inch or so from the tar in that second photo... and its not that much of a lean?

look like a good bike though. is that the first one Ducati have done in that "paris-dakar" style of thing?

Dave, I wouldn't swap my 620 for anything else, but the tall part is a problem because I am definitely not! The 620 is about 30mm lower inthe seat and only 63hp but also about (I think) 20 or 30kg lighter. Its great - I did 800km on it on Saturday and enjoyed them all.

Great roads out Port Albert way,some of the gravel roads are like 4 lane highways,so wide and smooth - you can get up some speed alright....and then some bits are sealed...some more narly gravel - a good mix in a small area.

It's as good as it gets for me.:yes: :yes: :yes:

HDC - I don't know how tall or short you are but my inside leg measurement struggles to 29" and I can get a foot flat by scooting forward against the tank. The seat is really narrow at the front which makes it easier.

I am off on the Rusty Nuts ride next week - can't wait !!

It's probably more the photo than anything - clearance isn't brilliant - but not too bad either. Scraped my toes regularly - nothing else.

I think its ducatis first all roads bike - but I'm not a big italian head.
