EDIT:bike has been sold.

EDIT: GOOD NEWS, SEE BELOW!

I had my bike in at motomart on monday to replace the cam chain system after they had run around getting prices and parts and squeezing me into the over booked shop. (cheers guys!)

half an hour later at work i get a phone call from them saying that honda had told/priced/sent the wrong parts and that the needed parts were $400ish each (need 2 of them) and they're wern't any available.

about an hour or so later I was told that they had found some but the price was still far too high for my liking so i started talking about not getting it done. then came the question of paying for the "non-returnable" parts, apparently because it was honda's stuff up the parts were now returnable.

so if anyone out there wants my bike or parts from it mabye (it still runs perfectly fine) for a fair but cheap price make me an offer! (i will put it in the trading forum on my lunch break and post the link here: ).

so yea, a very big thanks to the guys at motomart (especially Martin), i was really impressed with the customer service and all the help you gave me! :headbang:

Poor old VT motors always ate camchains and related bits. Not sure if it was crap design or lack of maintenance though :/ You should get on trademe and buy my bike!

Well I have to replace the camchains and probably the tensioners on the Missus's VT-250. Reckon I can do it for a damn sight cheaper than what you were quoted.
APE tensioners are the ones to get and from memory I got quoted $250 each. The chains aren't that dear. Fitting them can be a bit of a mission and not looking forward to that.

If you want help or anything, just let me know.

well i test rode the bandit this afternoon and loved it (besides those fucking curved back handle bars the guy had put on it), took it along jackson street then out down the motorway and i must admit that i loved it.

so heres the problem: i got back on the vtz and it felt great, lighter (even though the bandit really is), faster etc etc but i didnt exactly wring the neck off the bandit.

problem is i want the bandit but could probably run my vtz as is for some time yet. i dunno, you only live once i guess.

as for the vtz, look in the trading forum, i am looking for around $500-$600 but very negotitable. http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?p=535672

i paid for the deposit on the bandit today so the vtz has gotta go.

also, when i got home i put some oil in the vtz (it was quite low) and its sounding alot better now, i will find out in the morning wether it is or not.

also, when i got home i put some oil in the vtz (it was quite low) and its sounding alot better nowDang... If it's been running low (and possibly dry for a brief period of time), it's buggered.

no i think it is fine, it still had enough oil in it to be seen through the window and i never noticed any drop in performance. that and i just went outside and had a listen to it and its sounding ALOT better.

I would flog it quick. Generally, in my limited experience, if something has lost enough oil to run better when you top it up, it has a limited lifespan ahead of it :)

Dude, Hope you enjoy the Bandit.
That pipe on it makes it sound like a bloody F1 car!:Punk:
I wouldnt call it good customer service.. I just told you straight up and didnt bullshit around.
im just sorry i stuffed you around with the parts. We were destined to get the wrong parts right from the start! As its an import, we have no details at all of the bike, so left it up to Honda to give us part numbers etc.

Enjoy the new machine mate. Ill see you on the road soon!

Mate, after seeing your new bike, I think it's perfect for you. It definately goes with the name. I mean its yellow and black and its bloody loud!!

Once you get used to it, you'll be flying

yea, cheers yet again SB. I figured out right from the start when i got that oil filter ages ago that you had to ask honda what parts it took. cheers for the earplugs too, im gonna need em.

I guess that means you enjoyed the escort back to town then eh phoenix? :)

As for the VTZ it shall live on and will probably be seen in the not too distant future. (no im not telling whats happening with it, thats up to the buyer)
