What is with me and chicks?? It seems that the last couple of days have been all about me and issues with women....
Today there's a leaving "morning tea" for a woman who's leaving here and going to live with her boyfriend in Hawkes Bay. I get on pretty well with her and when the comment was made " ... and we expect an invitation to the wedding" which she denied was happening I said "So it's your clock ticking then?"

I'm surprised at the response, not from her, but from the assembled free food plebs who couldn't give a shit whether she stayed or left. A large round of disapproving stares and the obligatory sharp intake of breath... blah blah blah disapproval... WTF? The person who the comment was directed at didn't take offense and came back with a wisecrack of her own (that was drowned out by disapproval noises)

As I was leaving to return to work, I had the comment "did you miss a stage of social development somewhere along the way?" So it appears I have reinforced my status as social pariah among my work"mates". I wouldn't call then mate if they bought a round of beers!

Anyone else here a total f*ckmouth? going postal at work should never be overrated :ar15:
I don't feel that militant about it....

Jesus Col you really are having some problems!!

At the end of the day your a great guy who has a sense of humour, something that your colleagues seem to lack. If you know you haven't offended the lady and she laughed thats all that matters. Trust me, my huge mouth gets me in trouble at work all the time, but someone always comes along and does something just as stupid or worse and what I did was forgotten pretty much straight away. As said by Grahameeboy keep being yourself! Whos gives a toss what your work mates think of you!

Haha I love this.
I do that sort of thing all the time and have absolutely no idea what's 'appropriate' in any given situation.
Especially when there is a mix of men & women with nothing in common except work, my natural inclination is to act as if they are all my drinking buddies.

The world is filling with humourless sadsacks who spend their lives waiting to be offended.
To quote Bette Midler, 'fuck 'em if they can't take a joke".

It's bizarre isn't it? Engineers all talk about how much piss they drank and the shit they got up to at Uni then they hit the office and turn into humourless enuchs?

Not all that worried just a semi social commentary...

Postal, as you are no doubt aware Mr H, refering to US postal workers' predispositions of getting mentally f*cked by their job/life and taking a weapon (preferably semi automatic) and dispatching fellow workmates....

Yeah, that sounds like me. The people that know me know enough to not get offended by anything I say, because if they didn't I'd be in hospital by now. Honestly, it would of gone down even better if after everyone showed how sensitive and "well adjusted" they are, you should of given them the finger and told them to blow you or cook you some fucking eggs already.

Just be true to yourself.

My gob upsets even hard case bikers with sarcasm and cruel wit, and you're worried about humourless dipshits in an office?

HARDEN UP and lead from the front.

US Postal Service.

There were actually a couple of slayings in the States a few years ago where a Postal Worker expressed their dissatisfaction by gunning down anyone in range.

"Going Postal" is a well known saying in Texas...

My last boss here, still with the company, wanted to get a "Section Gun", mount it on the plan table (central in the office) so he could "shut that stupid b*tch up!!" - One of the associates (also no longer here)...
Something like this I think...

Colapop, I know just what you mean.

Before I retired (and one of the reasons I left) I had three sexual harassment charges laid against me.

Thankfully the other women and men supported me and they were found to be unfounded.

I now know how women feel when they have been assaulted.

All I wanted to do was go home and scrub.

The worst part is the weird crap they dream up, I have a vivid imagination and it just blew me away.

I came from a long list of men only world jobs and found working with women was great.

They (Women) give you a new slant on most things that we men would never think of.

Unfortunately as Confucius said "open the windows and you always let in a few flies".

Despite my few bad experiences I do not subscribe to segregated schools and workplaces.

Segregation of any type is counterproductive to real life.

Warts and all I prefer mixed association of the sexes. Cheers John.
