at least the super stages might be half decent. The Manatcow ones are crap now, since all the good spots have been bought by corps..

It's in NZ that is the main thing......stuff all that them and us.......I am sure Auckland will get spin offs......Hamilton is only an hour away.....easy to stay in Auckland and get a Coach to Hamilton........no traffic issues for Auckland........
Sounds like a good plan to me......

Im thinking Motu, its the super stage held for the general public, normally the first stage, it used to be at manukau, Im thinking now it will be at Mystery Creek, which would actually be better cause you would see more.
As always they will continue the many years of traditional sliding around your turf on the other stages out the back of Raglan etc, Only for a day though so you will have to dodge them for a short while only.

What you on drugs, just cause you ride a bike doesnt mean you should not enjoy other things such as WRC, mate if you have never been to watch these guys I forgive you, if thats the case you need to go and see these guys they are freckin awesome and if you go and dont enjoy it I will admit you to the ward of narrow minded plonkers.
Do they have the equivalent of the IOM Mad Sunday where everyone can have an unrestricted go on the roads prior to the event AT THE SAME TIME!!!?

The roads are posted as sections some weeks before the event (got a picture of one,but not at home) and drivers and co drivers do reckies to do the pace notes,so there can be some traffic for a few days. But seeing as I spend most of my life working and seldom get out on my bike I'll miss it all.
All you guys who think bikes are faster than cars should go for a bit of a fang on the WRC roads...I'll lend you a bike if you like. They are sooooooo fast on this stuff a bike looks very slow indeed.

Hmmm... Hamilton is only being offered the V8s in the first place cos Pukekohe Raceway is owned by the frikken horse racing club, and they've wanted to close the race circuit for a loooong time. So now they're finally doing it and the upper north island won't have a race track at all. Like there isn't anywhere else around that they can race their bloody horses.
That's fine though because the Hampton Downs circuit will be built (Yay) except that my personal opinion is that there's far too much bullshit involved in that particular project for it to ever happen. If it does, great but I don't think it's got a shit show. Costs a LOT of money to build a race circuit, and they don't even have resource consent yet. And it's "close" to auckland in the same way that Meremere is... So now when the cops tell the boy racers to "Save it for the track" they'll be saying "Ummm... which track would that be sir?"
People that race horses should be f*cking shot.
Note that this is not a rant about Hamilton, it's about frikken horses. I hate horses. Good on Hamilton for having a council with enough spine to host these things. Our lot have really lost it.

[QUOTE=Oscar]REDMAN FOR PM!!!
In previous years we've chased the rally around Raglan on our trail bikes - great stuff!
I was priveleged to have a very long talk with Carlos Saintz (retired) back a couple of years ago in Singapore (Changi). Saw this dude in a sports shop and I thought "hey you're Carlos". Spoke to him and we sat down on a bench and talked for nearly 2 hours. So cool. He told me (could have been bullshit) that the Whaanga Coast road, from Raglan to Ruapuke was his favourite stretch of road on the whole rally calendar. He also said that all the rally drivers went full on, in NZ as the roads were so conducive to fast racing. These guys like FAST, not slow.
I'm a Hammy guy and I reckon our mayor has done so much to put our town on the map he should be made an honory MacGillicudy.
Motu - map out your likely stretches and give us your thoughts.
I remember watching the first Audi Quatros burning up on Old Mountain road, near Whatawhata and thinking - what a bag of old bolts! those early turbos sounded so naff, you'd never think they'd finish a rally. Never chucked up gravel like the rear wheel drive Escorts, seemed much slower, but went like stink!
Still Carlos is my man - when he was still driving for Lancia, I took my boys out of school for the day (Sickies) and we were heading to the start of a section near Bridal Veil Falls. The roads were still open and a car came up alongside and overtook on a blind bend. I said to my boys "who the hell does he think he is, Carlos Saintz?" And it was. He pulled into a cockies gateway to do a service that was OK in those days and his car sounded awful. Mechanics tuning and hammering and Carlos was stood there looking forlorn. I asked his for a photo and he put his arms around my boys and managed half a smile. Good on ya Carlos, loved you forever after that!
He's on the commentary team now, so it might be nice to have a beer with him in Hammy (more bars and cafes/sq km than Auckland).
F**k the Reds, got no class at all! If Hammy is so boring, how come there are so many South Africans living here?

I spoke to a guy from France on the phone the other week. Even he took the piss out of Auckland because your mayor appears to be as useful as a fart in a spacesuit.
People - the French are laughing at you.
Burn your breakfast cereal on the streets in protest. :headbang:

This was the road closuer sign at Bridal Viel Falls fishb8nz,through to the Kawhia road,I'm not sure which parts were used for the rally, but there are some good stretches along there...although the lower end has been straightend recently.Saintz was good, very laid back...a real bloke, not a prima dona.
WRC drivers are the most skilled with the biggest balls in all forms of motorsport - driving at a blistering speed blind with some idiot yelling gibberish in your ear.Unless you've tried to drive or ride balls out fast on those roads you've got no idea how fast they are doing it.I always prefered the rear wheel drive rally cars...huge opposite lock slides, spending more time looking out the side windows than the windscreen.

Nothing new here. Auckland hasn't been able to organise a piss-up in a brewery since Robbies days.
Why does one city need 4 Mayors anyway?
