View Full Version : The applicant!

Our old (18yrs) cat died late last year and we decided we will not be getting another one.

This resolve is being challenged "strenuously" by a cat who, by all his actions, is determined to fill the vacancy.

He has to get full marks for determination.

You cant open any door to go out of the house without this cat racing round to intercept you, purring like a hot GSXR!

Mom says no but I feel an admiration for his tenacity coming on. I guess he will be in before the winter is over.

He is ginger and nearly got run over by a truck the other day. I was thinking of naming him "Dangerous".

That would mean getting another one to call "Rashika".

No, just too many cats. One applicant too many now. There isn't supposed to be a vacancy damn it!

Took a pic of him today, I think he might be a winner! :slap: Cheers John.

He's nice,I always prefer a ginger cat, they have a cool personality.A cat comes when it's needed and wanted - you're a grumpy shit if you say no.

I haven't had a cat for a few years,we've shifted around too much....but we are now more secure,I'm waiting.....

Cats are cool we bought our cat from England to NZ , me brother and I . Cost a fortune , a pain to do, I was living with a lot of German Skinheads at the time in a squat in Kilburn. They took so much care of this cat it was unbelievable. Rang them once and they were pissed off cause they were waiting for the cat to shit ( to get a feaces sample for vet ) before they went to a Ska festival

This cat was way cool. could out smoke anyone in the room ( its decision not ours ) , didnt drink , the dog did. Loved Punk rock music, Hated rabbits. ( seen it do a 10 foot jump with a rabbit the same size as itself the jump was vertical, onto the small open window, where it ate said rabbit.
Cat got fat and was killed by a car, ( still a waay cool cat)
So what if they eat the little birdies, noisy little f#$$^%rs need to get the " LEARN " about the mornings anyway

Give that cat a home is what I say !

I would say that the cat has chosen his new home.....

An elderly friend of mine (Val) had recently lost her cat to diabeties and was determined not to get another cat as Loopy was such a cool cat.
Then this cat turned up on her door step and things were just peachy for about 4 months.....until the neighbours turned up asking if she had seen their cat!

They took the cat home and he didn't turn back up for about 3 weeks, but needless to say the cat resides at Vals once again....

Cats will make their own choices really.

Got a kitten dumped on us about 2 1/2 years ago who is as friendly as any chainsaw on P!
Then we had a stray hanging around about a year ago that looked like shit, one eye and clumps of fur missing, skinny as too.
Tried every thing to get rid of it, fed it, gave it a warm box with an old blanket on the back step, let it come inside, but even after all that it still wouldn’t go!
$800 and a year later and we have a fat and happy couch hog that purrs non-stop!
I should own our vet’s house by now...

Dangerous, I just tipped him up and checked. HE HAS BEEN FIXED UP!

If you tell us you have been done likewise or "volunteer to be done" then we will offer you the job!

Yes, we will let you in out of the cold and give you a saucer of Talisker Malt...just like all pure bred Ginger Tom (read neutered) cats.

If able to demonstrate that you can catch mice, rats and birds we will give you your own door key and a special bed all of your own.

One last prerequisite is that you must demonstrate an ability to purrr like a finely tuned Moto-Guzzi on steroids on instant demand when shown affection.

Rashika will be given visiting rights of course but seeing as you will probably not be cut out for that sort of thing anymore I will let her teach me how to purrr instead.( I'm very kind like that)

Cancel that last condition, if Mrs O/R read that it would be me appointed to the vacancy! Sorry Rashika. :oi-grr:

Please telephone for an appointment for the final interview.

Try to look like the guy in the pic below when you come to the door. Cheers Pip and John Oldrider.

It has a webcam on its collar and a modem implanted under its skin. It's purpose is to spy on KBers so that the cops can lie in wait for them and arrest them for seditious actions.
How many KBers have had cats turn up unexpectedly? And how many of those cats watch you while you're online???
You have been warned.

John, you already know that the cat (Dangereous for sure) has selected you as its new slave. What your wife decides has absolutely no bearing on it. You are the cat's new slave, and you house is the cat's new home. Just accept the decision and get on with looking for that second cat. (A female seal burmese perhaps that you can then call Rashika?)

The likeness is uncanny. Dangerous must have a twin. So that means you can't call it Dangerous, but its neutered form, ummmm, "Was Dangler" or "Dangler-less".

From experience, it will not go away. You may as well just get used to the fact that it is there to stay. All the best convincing Mrs O/R

I somehow guessed that Rashika would have burmese cats. But as for the Burmese being eaten by the Staff, I would bet that in a real fight the poor Staff would come off second best. Our burmese cats have sent a German Shepherd, a Corgi and a Rotti to the vets at various times.

The girl that owned the ginger cat in this thread told us that she couldn't look after him and had got him a new home in Timaru.

We have just found out that the true story was that the nasty vindictive little bitch got her father to shoot him because he wouldn't stay at home (alone all day) and she was jealous of him hanging around our place!

RIP ginger cat, you were a winner in my book but your fate was never really in my hands. As for the girl owner, what goes round comes round, she will get her just deserts in time, nature is funny like that. :bye: John.

And people wonder how psychotics are spawned... Such little disregard for life (even a cats) is pathetic. I have a problem with animals that are left to run wild and believe there is a place for their control but she knew she couldn't care for it and it had a new home so why should have worried her? Wonder what she'll be like with kids?

That sucks, such people make me angry - to treat an animal as an accessory, and dispose of it when finished.

Our own applicant who I posted about a few weeks ago has become a nightly visitor, she waits for me to come home every night.I still have to ask her inside, she doesn't bolt in when the door is opened...very polite. We don't feed her still, but she really enjoys the company...and the comfort.

But she is suddenly very fat - I expect we will hear the pitter patter of tiny paws come november,or sooner. But that's ok,as now she is my friend - when she had her last litter I just thought she was a local cat, owned by someone who cared....and she wouldn't come near me or let her kittens get touched. So they have grown up to be stray cats, and what's worse...stray breeding cats.So now I will be able to catch the kittens and take then to the SPCA,and get her fixed up at the same time so she doesn't keep making new strays.....I expect to see a ginger kitten or 2 this time.
