bet most of that is bs, but all the same, I must remember most of that next time I want to scare some shits into nickin anything..
same goes for the bike too, but how can the bike hold valuable data like that..??

all the same, that was the worst idea in the world, for that kid..

I have worked with some tutors that could conceivably have had extremely sensitive data on their laptops - one, who was just "Lesley" to everyone, turned out to be a Fellow of more Royal Societies than I've had hot dinners and quite well respected in her field; others I've worked with were pretty big in their fields outside the polytech as well or have had outside interests that could necessitate a fair degree of confidentiality.

Don't know how much of what that prof claimed was true and how much was scaremongering, but I could well believe that the theft of the wrong tutor's laptop could land you right in the cart with the law.

The guy would have to be a pretty hot forensic specialist to determine how many times the data had been copied - unless there were a hidden logger on the computer. Last access time is relatively simple and whether or not it has been copied once should be reasonable, but multiple copies?

Well, if the data on it was THAT sensitive then why the F%ck didn't he take more care of it instead of leaving it around in the company of a load of thieving students :bash: (no offence to any of our upstanding student members intended)

Perhaps he should get prosecuted for losing it in the first place.
