I live waaaay out rural, so the only broadband option is satellite connection.
I was with Ihug for 5 years with no hassles. Maybe only one call for support in all that time.
Then they sold to an Aussie outfit called Bordernet.

Straight away the dramas started, never mind their poxy proxy system. Here is just a few things they have fucked up....
Did not send a tech over to do the re point to new sat. (oh, yeah they did, one month later!)
Support lines timed out every time I tried to ring and E-mails ignored.
My password got changed twice for no reason and it takes them more than 24 hours to issue a new one! (I was in IT support for years and just changed passwords on the fly, so WTF!)
Signed onto their all you can eat plan and get a bill for $800 for excess megabytes!
1st they tell me they do not have a all you can eat plan!
Then they say, it is only unlimited traffic on the upload side!!!
Just as well I took a screen shot of their original plan, so that stuffed them and they owned up and took the excess charges off. (always take a screen shot of deals you see on websites)
Then they cut me off twice for not paying, except I had!!!
The bloody list goes on and on, but you's get the idea.

In short, avoid them like the plague that they are!
I hear a NZ based sat system is due to be rolled out, I pray my dish is compatible!
I use the net for my business, so it's bloody important to me, rant OVER!

we have a new fella at work who was on ihug helpdesk for 5 years as a supervisor... quite handy, he knows all the shortcuts and the right people to ask for ;)
