Dont know about the make/model, as I've never owned one. I note the reserve has not been met.... was there a buy now price? reserve is normally half way between opening bid and the buy now price.

It looks like there are a few easyish bits to fix, apart from the caliper. If you have a few tools, this ought to be achieveable, but if you dont own a spanner or two I wouldnt get into it. The piston may be able to be released by soaking it in CRC and then blowing compressed air in the inlet. Beware when you do this, they do pop out, and can fly a long way. I would recommend wrapping a cloth around the area where the piston would fly out. if you do get it out, you need to get the area *very* clean and smooth eg with emery cloth or something and put the piston back in. I think that you could probably expect to pay around $500 for a new caliper assembly. Electrics can be tricky if something goes wrong, but should be ok. I wouldnt pay more than $1500 if I was going to buy a new caliper, or maybe $2000 if I was going to try myself.
Those are just ball-park, as I dont know what a good one goes for, they are my gut-feeling, based on what I think the bike is, and what i would pay for a 250.

If you are willing to do a bit of work, you can pick up a bargain by buying an unfinished bike, but you have to know what you are letting yourself in for..

Also dont forget that it needs a warrant and rego :niceone: listen to PT about this one..... He's had heaps of experience in buying bikes that need fixing and vinning and COF and rego :niceone: just PM him if you have anymore questions about that process.....

This bike is rego on hold, so big bonus as it costs $210 extra to get a new rego number ($150 for a COF check, plus $60 for a plate). You will still need to factor in the $270 for a years rego though....

the srx250 is a cool little bike. I wouldnt worry about the seized caliper. they are the same brake calipers as the rz250/350 and xj600/600/fz750/ fj1100 ones will fit too.--so you could probably pick one up fron a wrecker cheap as.
As far as the wiring goes -as ;ong as its basic wiring goes i wouldnt be to worrried-(ok I wouldn't worry) I guess it depends how much ya know about wiring.

Rego on hold means you dont have to pay back registration, you dont need to get new plates, and you dont need to get it COFed. Essentially what it does is stops the rego from lapsing while the bike is off the road. It means the plates are still current numbers and allocated to that bike, but it doesnt have any current registration fees paid

Motoracer had one of them and I had a few goes on it. It's a fun bike for sure. Nice punchy thumper engine (off a DT250 dirt bike or something). Decent handling (got a 16 inch front wheel I think). I used to imagine it was an old Ducati SS.

Expect to pay around $1200 - $1600 for a rego'd one with no work required. $1300 sounds a bit pricey. On the other hand, it appears that most of the reconditioning has been done to it already. You should definitely go with someone who knows what to look for and do the maths prior to making an offer.
