Trucking your bike to Manfield from Auckland.

Please register your interest here if you want your bikes transported to the Manfield race track from Auckland.

So far I have:

Justsomeguy
CaN
CaN
Texmo
SpeedMedic
GrahameeBoyAs it's very early stages I am still finalising plans. At this stage I have an open bed truck in mind that can take about 8+ bikes (to be confirmed).

The truck may be driven down by FireFight depending on how things go. For those of you who don't know FireFight drives fire engines and is as capable a driver as you're likely to get, so your bikes are in safe hands.

Costs at this stage are still being worked out and I shall let you all know as soon as that is finalised. The same goes for the departure and arrival schedules to and from the track.

Kind Regards,

JSG.

Manfield is several hundred kilometres from Auckland. The trip down will take at least 7 hours, depending on weather conditions. Are you prepared to ride down in what may be cold conditions (June weather) and maybe even heavy rain?? You would also be carrying all your gear and luggage and arrive rather tired spending energy that you will most definitely need for the long track training day ahead of you. This will also be the safest option if (hope it doesn't) one of you crashes.

So think about it, would you rather be fresh and energised or do you feel very fit and healthy and believe you are ready to challenge your fatigue threshold and handle the extra hassles if you crash??

Provided you have enough cash to pay whatever ticket the cop gives us.

If you're after a lift down I have place for 1 person in my car.

Not sure how much thought.. if any has gone into this,

A flat deck truck is no bloody good, better to get a covered in one like a small furniture truck,(pref with a tail lifter) won't only be bikes going down, there is normally heaps of shit that your never going to need, but think you should take, tools, spares, lap tops for the geeks who can,t live without a kb fix.. spare fuel bought at Ak prices, (or stolen,) tent's for those too tight arse to fork out some dosh for a motel, bulk curry powder,.... camp cooker....blah fucken blah....generators for tyre warmers and latte machines, hot water bottles, fuck the list goes on....

Can you hire bike trailers.....reason I say is that if I do not catch up with Jim2 and go down earlier, I have a 7 seat MPV and tow bar so I could take my bike plus those guys putting their bikes on truck and share petrol...

Thanks for the offer Grahaeme. If I don't get enough hands up I think the best thing to do would be to hire a trailer and take a few bikes down that way.

Put me down for one seat in the MPV and one bike space in the trailer - to be confirmed as things go.

The plan is to choose the most cost effective and safest option to transport the total number of bikes made available.

If there's only you and me then there's no point hiring a 20 ton truck is there?? We can hire a trailer instead. If I get about 20 bikes then maybe I need to find two trucks and another driver.

Understand?

I'm waiting for a list of Auckland riders from SM tonight.

Then I will start PM'ing all the riders from Auckland asking them whether they want a truck or not.

Depending on the number of people who want their bikes transported I'll see what's available in the market for that number of bikes.

Once I find something suitable I'll get the costs and tell everyone what they are. Then we'll go about getting the payments sorted out and booking the transport.

As things go along I'm sure we will sort out any issues, we have quite a long time to go yet, I want to do things as smoothly as possible.

Hello,

Can I please have confirmations from all those wanting their bikes transported??

If the number of bikes are four to six I shall be hiring a 2-ton truck and heading down on the Friday afternoon/evening. I am prepared to drive the truck down myself and/or share the driving with any of you all who have held a full car license for 3+ years, are over 21 and are comfortable driving a manual transmission. If you don't meet these criteria please don't ask to share the driving. Also if you are seen drinking more than 4 beers on the Sat night, I'm sorry you wont be sharing the driving back to Auckland. (I personally don't drink alcoholic drinks). That may sound harsh, but I'm not taking any chances, as I am responsible for the truck.

The approximate dimensions of the truck floor are 2m wide by 3m long. Click here for a picture of a similar truck (http://www.waikatocarrentals.co.nz/photos/30a.jpg).

The best quote I have gotten so far is for $460 for hireage from Friday afternoon/evening to Sunday afternoon/evening. The time of departure will be decided as I get the majority opinion.

The price includes all hiring costs and an insurance excess of $250. We shall have to share diesel costs which will be additional to the $460 figure above.

You all will need to supply your own tie downs ($7+ from Super Cheap Autos for a pair, you need two pairs).

---------------------------------------------------------------
If there are more than six bikes then I shall need to hire a 4-ton or higher truck. I will also need someone with a Heavy Vehicle Driving License to drive it and hire the truck in his or her name.

I believe the cheapest way for us all to get there will be to put all our bikes in the truck and car pool with those of us with people movers. This will probably mean hiring a 4+ ton truck and finding some one with a heavy vehicle license.

Can I please have your responses by the 11th of June.

If the total number of bikes are 4 or less we will need to think of arranging our own transport. Van hire is around $250 a day plus diesel costs.

Kind Regards,
JSG
