So here's our new kitten- Sid the cat.

I had to have one of our cats put down a few weeks ago with suspected rats poisioning. Since then Rusty (the other cat- guess what colour HE is) has been very lonely. Then Lexie started saying "we have to go to the pet shop to buy Sid. He's a black cat and he's a boy"

I really don't want another cat- especially not a tiny little kitten as I worry about what will happen with a huge dog and two little horrors in the house. And as whatever I say goes, we got a new cat. Bloody women! They know just the right look to use to get what they want- even 4 year old girls!

I must learn this look... I need a new motorbike...

Man, I know exactly what you mean. At one stage we were up to 5 dogs and 3 cats and I still only had 1 bike. I really think us blokes are missing something here.

Ah Chicks - thay have that habit of asking your opinion and then doing whatever the hell they want. I think this is why the generations before us came up with that invaluable response "Yes dear".

Enjoy the cat (if that is possible with it not being a dog and all)

He's adorable Tony

Sid will let your dog know if he is playing too rough.. Kittens are very resilient and have sharp little claws!

Us girls are born with magical powers for getting our way with men.. the trick is to use them for good insted of evil.. and there's nothing evil about the kitten in that photo.....

You have the same printer as me Tony.

As for the cat, I hate it when they sit there all squinty eyed, you just know they are up to something. Cute little kitten, should be a first rate wallpaper/sofa shredder.

He looks just like the one that wanders around my back yard. The mother cat had a couple of kittens in the old Valiant in the corner of next doors section, and she brings them over to our place because it's more interesting.I've been watching them since they were little falling over bundles of fluff, now they are about the size of that one, maybe 3 months old.The mother wears a collar and all look healthy and well fed,but I don't know where she belongs. The little black and white one is so cute....and I want another cat,but I'd really hate to capture him and break up the family group. The mother will be abandoning them soon, and then after no human contact I don't think he will make a good pet.

You always know that when you say "We are not getting xxx xxx xxx. My word is law" that you are going to get xxx xxx xxx regardless of what it is. So next time your wife and you are talking about bikes, say "We are not getting me a new bike. My word is law" before you know it, there will be a new bike in the shed.

And that look, it because cat's know. Don't ask what they know, they just know.

WAY cute! And I love the name - Sid! Let's hope he wasn't named after Sid Vicious because your legs won't be safe if he is!

I bet he'll have you wrapped around his front paws within days - if he hasn't already!

he might just depends i guess.....

you could always take them to spca hmm but then they may put them down for as you say no human contact....what if you leave a little cat foor out for them or maybe go see them?...

no tags on the collar....id say abandoned then ...kittie got knocked up had kittens so the "family" abandoned her...this may not be the case but if it is i hate people that do that and can just throw a pet out like that

then again it might have a home and be a lost cat...but with no tags?...a cat certainly isn't going to run away when it's got somwhere warm to stay ...when it's pregnant

The black and white kitten came inside this morning, had a sniff around and got pretty close before he saw me,then got out quick.I found the mother sitting just outside on the path....''Why don't you go in there and have a look around'' she must of told him.I think she's getting ready to kick them out.My daughter does kitten fostering for the SPCA,I'll see if she can get me a trap and I'll take them from the mother before we have 2 more breeding wild cats out there.I'll see if he's going to be friendly first.

As a general rule cats need to be socialised with human contact from an early age. One of our 3 cats, Snookie is a marmalade female from the SPCA. She is a lovely creature but very shy. Being an abandoned kitten she didn't learn to trust humans so it is a long haul for us to gain her trust.

I suggest you start gently handling the black and white kitten as soon as practical. Cats are clever and quickly learn what is in their best interests. :D

Ah yes ... 'the look'. Mrs Oakie doesn't have it, daughter number 1 doesn't have it any more but daughter number 2 still has it. Those eyes look up in that particular way and it's like a bloody great icicle ripping right through your heart. You're powerless to say "no".
Enjoy your new cat ... and remember, 'dogs have masters ... cats have staff'

Haha we are going through the same thing.
We got a male cat, 5 months old from the SPCA - full of mischief and has had a few accidents behind the speakers in the lounge. Out 15 year old cat is slowly getting used to the new arrival and the growling is subsiding.

He's a cute wee man all right. The 'evil' look is actually him blinking- I hope LOL. He's an unusually placid wee fella, although right now he's wandering around looking for mischief. I've been freaking out about the kids a bit, but so far nothings gone wrong.

Yea gods he's going nuts in the dirt box- bye!

Nah just cats in general mate, they hate the water so they panic like hell and send out heaps of distress vibes which get bronzies into a bit of a feedin frenzy. Its only sharks that like cats/kittens/small children :niceone:

Our (my) cat Shadow (all grey) I found in the compost heap (laying in the sun) when he was approximately 6 weeks old. Caught him after he backed into the corner and couldn't find a way out. He's been with us for 3 1/2 years and has only recently (since we got a new kitten) let us pick him up outside. He's got no nuts but is still the boss of the neighborhood - I have to patch up the pus pots.
His mother was an evil bitch when I caught her. I got the SPCA round to pick her up. I told him not to get her out of the cage - "just drop it off [the trap] after you've killed it [the cat]"
"It'll be fine, I've done this a hundred times" says he. "Can you call an ambulance" says he 2 seconds after she tore his arm open....
"Told ya she was evil" says me while stemming the blood flow. He needed 14 stitches.
