I saw one on our way back over. Rider looked fine, bike didn't look too bad and it seemed that they were trying to get it started.
I didn't recognise any of the group.

That was our small group returning from the newbe ride.
Bandit 750 had a small slide. He is ok, a bit sore. A few scratches on the bike but got it going ok.
Cheers to all the bike that slowed/stopped to check we were ok :)
There was another accident on the south side near the summit. Saw a few cop cars and ambulance. Hope everyone is ok there as well.
It was slippery up there around midday.

eeeh, that was probably me....
I lost the rear coming back up the takas in the wet, took a slide, stopping fortunately right on the shoulder.
I'm unscathed, though I'm now minus one right indicator (if you know anybody with one they want to sell, give me a PM....), and have a bent brake lever.
For the record, this wasn't a KB-ride crash, I was on my own with a mate on the black 636. So no blaming Uncle B or anything :)

That drizzle is the worst kind of rain to ride in. Just turns the road into an ice rink with all the dust particles floating on top of the water.
Hope all is well with whoever.

All good 45 mins ago... Bit damp on the other side but dry on the Wellie side..
It sure didn't drizzle in Greytown... Still, it's only rain... Vicki and I had a great ride around the place and the old wreck went like a ... a ... wet old motorbike..

The lady on the southside of the hill got transported away in an ambulance. Hope she's OK.
The ambo's were onsite for 30-40 minutes before departing the scene with the rider onboard.
Victim was a 49 year old woman who is in serious condition but is concious.
Bike is reported to be a yellow firestorm. Sounds like the bike was headed northbound and rode reasonably quickly into a sharp corner which was unfortunately where the dry road hit the wet road.
There was a half hour period there where the road was just far too oily. No suprise there was a couple of offs. Alot of grease and oil after some warm dry days.

lol.
and yes, Dafe, I now understand this all too well, the worst possible road condition is one that has been dry for a fair bit, then gets a mild spattering which washes up all the various oily/greasy/squeaky bits.
Though I already knew exactly that, I hadn't quite internalised it into my personal Squidmaster6000SpeedSelectionSystem. My bad.

Yeah, I had the shit's up a few times myself. It's not exactly maneuverable conditions and a couple of times coming around the corners and seeing huge unavoidable rainbow patterns on the road sure got me gritting my teeth!
Here's hoping our fellow Firestorm rider is OK!

Sure does slow you down when you see how easy it is to loose it on some of those slippery corners...i was in the mini-group following behind the Bandit when it went down but luckily it was a low speed slide with no other vehicles involved.
Lets hope there aren't any more accidents today - thats 2 too many!

Was the Bandit red? If it was, we were going to stop but as there were already a couple of other bikers there it didn't it was wise.

Yah it was a red'un....we pulled the bike out the road and there were no major injuries to report.....and got it roadworthy after a couple of minor mods :)

the female biker was me. I was riding my 400 Honda Bros. It was the third corner down on the Hutt side. The only thing I can remember was the steering starting to shake violently and trying to bring it under control (I was going slow round the corner because of the wet road). The next thing I know was waking up in the ambulance. Apparently I knocked myself out cold for some time.
Having a day off today to recover (hurt my lower back and my elbow, and have one leg that doesn't want to work properly. My bike is okay, just needs a new footpeg.
Had my jacket and everything on my top half cut off by the ambulance people and Hutt A&I. Pretty severe way to get a new jacket!
My thanks to everyone who stopped to help.

Saw this on our way back home in the drizzle. The injured person was wrapped up in blankets but still lying on the road (that tight right-hander at the top of the last passing lane heading up to the summit from the Wellington side). No sign of a damaged bike. The surface wasn't too bad, I thought, but if the rider had clipped a white line or a cats eye right on the apex, that may have been enough to cause an off. Cops for Africa -- two at the scene and three more heading up before we got to Kaitoke gardens.

Time to slow down on the hill, I saw a HP up there patrolling for the first time in ages, like we all need that distraction in the wet!!
Glad the body under the blanket is alive and (reasonably) well. I now know why the guy smiled when I asked " Is he okay? " as I went through. I must not stereotype like that!

Friday night I came back to Wellington from Masterton at about 8.30ish and that was bad.. The winds and wet roads give me the heebie geebies! Had to keep it in first to try and stay straight! (true, I cant ride so don't need second gear anyway) :)
