Having lead a very sheltered existence, and no voluntarily ventured overseas, I have not been subjected to the bugs and spiders etc, that other countries have to offer. The biggest creepy crawly I have seen is a bush spider here in NZ, that was bigger than I wanted to believe spiders could ever get in this country (about 9cm long when we measured it).
What nasty bugs/spiders have you witnessed up close and personal........ bearing in mind that "tristank" is not an acceptable answer.

Seen some very strange insects (quite large too!!) over in Japan. Brian d'marge could probably tell you some are, I was too busy making my escape from the fuckers to get to know them.

Have to agree there Motu...seriously creepy critters, aparrently a nasty bite too. My daughter stood on one inside and felt it slither around under her bare foot and nearly screamed the house down. She then drowned it in flyspray and waited for it to die.
Just this afternoon my tiny came running inside screaming after a big weta was walking up the stairs...of course it got drowned in flyspray too.
Now I can't handle stick insects:crazy: They're so....sticky...and yucky!! Same with huhu beetles...eeewwww!! *shudder!!* Makes my hairs stand on end just thinking about them!

As motu says,we have the biggist insect with the giant Weta going a genuine OZ.
But some of the spiders in Aussie are scary buggers.
I once parked a Valiant in a ditch an jumped out before it stopped moving when a wolf spider popped out of an air duct on the dashboard.
We lived in an OLD house over there an shared it with all sorts of buggs, but only the mouse an funnel web spiders really worried us.
Apparantly more people die from Mouse spider an funnel web bites each year than from snake bite.
With a funnel web you have 30 minites to get treatment or your dead.

Aussie pops up if you type "worlds most poisonous spiders, or "worlds most poisnous snakes" into Google........ I used to like watching Troy Dan on TV, alot more interesting, and a HELL of a lot less patronizing than that Steve Irwin knobcheese. Troy would stand back, and not attempt to handle the deadly critters, whereas Steve Irwin has to fondle it, pick it up, tease it, or try stick his trouser snake in it.
Aussie harbours a shitload of nasty things, crocs, sharks, jellyfish, spiders, fish, snakes, and thats just the good ones.
I love looking at big spiders, like the Goliath Bird Eating Spider, or that ugle mofo called the Baboon Spider, but cant handle anything greater than daddy long legs in size.

I have no issue with Wetas for some reason, they are just a miniature land based crayfish in my eyes, a few spines and shrp bits to watch for, but other than that, they are cool. Spiders are my pet hate bug.

Biggest spider I ever came across was in Vietnam, but it was dead, and cooked, and being offered to me for a snack....
...fair amount of meat on it though...
