As a part of this ride http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?p=540487#post540487
Yungatart & I stopped to catch up with an old friend in Clive who was tragically widowed 18 months ago. The upshot of this was her husband had bikes as a young(er) man but gave them up when he had a bad off. He had always thought that 'One day....etc' but he never got there.
Anyway, the 15yo daughter said to me "If Mum says it's OK, will you take me for a spin so I can see what Dad was on about?" "Sure" says I. Mum said "Off you go and enjoy". Kitted her out with Yungatart's gear, tell her to make like a sack of spuds and smack me on the back if too scary, and also that if she is OK after a bit that I'll show her a little of the GSXR's power. Off we go (sedately) and gradually build it up thru a series of corners and straights, she's loving it, then a quick check that she is happy to fang it a bit and Vvvrrroooommmm, couple hundred metres we're doing something insane with the front wheel light-as!!! Button off and quietly home.
The look on that young lass's face was worth a million bucks. She could not stop the grin. Now she wants a boyfriend with a bike or to get one of her own. The younger syblings only got a taste around the driveway since they didn't fit the gear, but they were happy too.
It is a great feeling to show others what 'it' is all about.

Wants a boyfriend eh?

too bad you are in napier

edit: Took one of my good mates on the back of my bike after he recently broke up with his girlfriend, and taught him how to ride. He grinned like a monkey on crack after getting on the back when I gave it some welly... he was chuffed! (And keen for a bike...)

Aw comeon.. I'm a good influence.

/ends pisstaking

Good on ya to do that, I'll be looking forwards to taking my young 6 year old (boy) cousin on the back some time soon and my slightly older (girl) cousin who I think is another year or two older. Henry.. the boy loves anything with motors and has so many cars and trucks and crap to play with BUT - she (Claudia) seems the most interested in the bike out of the two for some reason. Which I guess is rather weird (being a girl and all). She loves jumping on it, starting it up and revving it's nuts off! Crazy.

At least they are heading in the right direction of transport choice 'bwahahaha'

It is a great feeling to show others what 'it' is all about.I know that feeling. Recently a girlfriend came over with her three kids aged 10, 8, & 6 i think, and the purpose of visit was to see my new bike. Well after the little nippers pleaded with me to take them for a short ride i buckled under the pressure and agreed. One by one I pillioned them down the road and back and when i stopped half way down they each asked me to slow down a bit...when i brought the last one back they all wanted to go again, so one by one i took them down the same road but to my surprise when i stopped half way down they each told me to speed up!! Yep, the lil' grins on their faces made my day. :D I told their mum that if they ever get into bikes to start them young on trailbikes.

:niceone:

Tell her to go for the "one of your own" option. Boyfriends aren't hard to find if you have a bike... and that way she'll have both... forever

Thats odd...

I take people for a spin on the Moto Guzzi and they usually go buy something sane like a Lada...

That's exactly how my 14 yar old daughter felt after whe went out on the back of the zzr; couldn't stop grinning for the world. Except it's not cool to be seen with your old man and wearing you mothers only ever so slightly baggy leathers.

My 3 1/2 year old grandson just loves going up and down the driveway and turning around on the front lawn. Every time he comes over he asks for a ride.

MDU: Yeah, good advice - get her to buy her own.

Tristank: My 5 year old daughter is much more interested in my bike than my 7 year old boy. Although Ben did ask me if we could play the motorbike game on the way to school this morning - he likes to pretend he rides a red fireblade with orange and yellow flames on it. For some reason he thinks it needs a turbo as well - dunno why...

Get her on her own bike. She'll love you (and your son) more for it

That lad does not need any more girls hanging around him, his mates are sickened by his ability to pull the girls-or maybe just jealous....

I took my son around the block (65km) a couple of weeks ago for his 13th birthday, the first time he's been on the back of my bike.Kitted him out in my old leather jacket, hanging a bit loose on him.The DT230 is not a great bike for a first timer....he enjoyed it of course, the gravel road was a bit rough he said, but loved getting sideways...I was a bit worried if that was a bit extreme for your first time on a bike, but he was buzzing about that bit.Now he knows what I do when I go for a ride on sundays...maybe I'll have some company on my rides from now on?

No No, you're ok with your pants around your ankles. You're the only guy I know who could pick up ladies that way though

thanks. I put it down to the Pelvic Floor exercise, and the ugly face. I't the least unattractive option I can put forward...
