Check this (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-2080205,00.html) out:

The twat reckons he couldn't shift into neutral and didn't want to turn off the engine as the power steering wouldn't work. Instead elected to endanger countless lives.

What a cock-head!

The great news is the brain-damaged twat is giving up driving forever.

True. It's cagers in general, but this one seems spectacularly dumb.

When I heard it on the TV news I was wondering if he was just lying to excuse his little speeding and reckless driving spree. Turns out from reading the more in-depth news article that he really is as moronic as he claimed. Pommy police should revoke his licence permanently to help him keep his promise.

99% of BMW/Mercedes drivers are morons - period - its a worldwide problem, they think they DO own the roads

Sounded like he was talking to emergency services during the experience - must be some thick call centre staff to not suggest an array of options. Turn ignition off on a straight piece of road or pull to the side & graze the armco to slow it or spin it out etc. I bet more is to be heard of the real truth of the situation as pre-judged as it has been.

hes doing what speed and decides to make cell phone calls? Obviously a complete pillock, seen it in mercedes drivers before......

Bits of it don't add up - he's cruising along and decides to throttle off but the accelerator is jammed to the floor! What speed was he doing before he decided to slow down?
Then he reckons it sped up all by itself. WTF?

Losing power steering is no biggie - it's a trifle harder to turn the wheel (a positive as it would take a bit for the wheels to go out of control) but it is not uncontrollable by any stretch of the imagination. The engine died as we were going around a corner and Juliet suddenly found the steering harder. She continued around the corner, slowing gradually, and carefully stopped and tried to restart the car - simple, really. What sort of soft-cock can't steer a car with the power steering disabled? The guy looks a big fat fucker who should have sufficient muscles to turn the steering. Or he would if he weren't a gutless pansy who's only ever driven autos with power steering and never once driven a manual or a car with normal steering.

I was drilled as a kid (who couldn't care less about cars) in correct emergency stopping procedures by both parents who were professional drivers (most of these drills, I might add, were in response to scenes in retarded movies where the hero winds up in an out of control vehicle and suddenly drops 60 points of IQ in favour of a mad-cap dramatic career through rush-hour traffic.)

Old Pillsbury-Doughboy-Beemer-retard needed to get off his fat arse and stop stuffing his ugly face while watching retarded Hollywank movies and get out and take some fucking defensive driving classes.

It did say "hands free" in the article, about the only intelligent purchase he made. You know that you can get manual Beemers, eh. They cost less than the autos - he could have spent some of the money he saved by buying a manual (with a clutch to disengage the engine from the gears and drive shaft) to pay for safety lessons.

It still sounds suspicious, how could you be that dumb and grow to his age?
Perhaps he was nailed by a camera and made all this crap up to avoid the penalty.

I agree with nadroj as well, why didn't one of the emergency services staff say "get onto the straight bit of the motorway and turn your key off one click only, do not turn it right off and do not remove the key from the ignition."

I'm looking forward to seeing in the news that the crash investigators find nothing at all wrong with his accelerator or that you can quite easily change it from drive to neutral.

if he can drive for extended lengths at high speed in a fairly straight line, then he can coast without power steering in a straight line

and at any point, and car can be shifted into neutral.. moron.

help me! help me! My bike's throttle got jammed wide open going down 22!!

This is true - they don't give way, they tailgate, and just generally drive with arrogance. They are a bunch of Neuvo Riche wankers with no imagination who try to show how 'successful' they are by buying the most boring cars possible.
