Had a thought"!!! what if there was a whole lot of KBers, that wanted insurance on their bikes, is it worth contacting a insurance company with
50 or a 100 200 300 or more KBers and ask for a shit hot insurance deal (might already be done , im a newbie here) and no i dont work in insurance!!
but i do know i pay a shitload to have my bike insured, surely a insurance company would give ya a good deal!!if they knew they were gonna get a whole heap of customers at the same time
just an idea" i havent thought of the flaws yet bound to be some!!
i guess we have to run a poll to see if people insure their bikes and wether its full or third party.
would like your thoughts nevertheless..!!??

i dont insure my bike because I only have a restricted licence. so they wouldnt pay up if I stacked it anyway. That will all change just as soon as I get a 250 and find a slot that I can fit into for my full test.

My insurance is covered by my dad's house & car insurance (NZI i think), due to the fact that I still live at home, so it works out pretty cheap for full coverage

I have mostly always had full insurance because I have expensive taste. Also, sometimes I finance my bikes and so full is compulsory!
Good idea Mr GIXser, i'd be more than happy to see you try this exercise, count me in! :yeah:

Third Party because as a 17yr old student i can't really afford full insurance.
And apparently they only gave me insurance because i had a clean record of 12 months under the olds cage insurance.(I've heard of a few learner motorcyclists who noone will insure without any previous history.) I only paid out $800 for it (Got a BLOOODY good deal on it), with a excess matching the purchase price and annual fee of $56 so i'm pretty happy with that.
Got a hell of alot of bike for the price.
(It was the white Kawasaki 250 at the KB track day, the only one with an L-Plate)

Ahh insurance not a subject I am too fond of after insuring the bike for 3k, bining it then getting an offer of $600 from the insurance company for it, 2 local dealer quoted on it (one of these dealers has been applauded here for great service) sight unseen, fine they took no time to look at the bike but you cant that I have found replace a reg'd and wof'd 500cc bike for less than $1500. When the insurance company was informed of this I was told to get quotes of my own, fine the only 2 dealers they accepted quotes from were the local agent and the other dealer they got a quote from and neiter were interesed in comming out to look, the insurance company was also not willing to look at the current market values on the net or in the paper to give them an idea of true values.
Moral get an agreed value then insure it to that, get it fixed at that value for as long as possable then get it revalued when required save some grief and dont end up out of pocket.

FWIW I have NEVER insured a bike - and now at an old age, I am now thousands of dollars ahead.
Insure car, house contents, health etc but rip off M/c premiums and excesses make it well worthwhile to carry the bike risk.

They might if you got enough people together although they'd still want to have the right to not insure some of those individuals if they had a bad record or put on bigger premiums or excesses for young'uns etc.
I think that if you are talking about 'group', the 'group' might need to be a legal entity like a company or an incorporated society rather than just a loose collection of people who share a similar interest.

thats an interesting question.
i insure my car through a high risk insurer called Pioneer Auto Insurance because once i declared all the modifications, State would no-longer cover me.
I am going to give them a call and ask about insuring my bike against theft only as technically i shouldn't be riding it... just yet.
wonder what they will say?
But as i spend about $125 a month with them insuring the car - they might say yes???

I get my whole years insurance for 3 months of yours. That is shocking.
I would sell the car if it was costing me $1500 a year to insure the damn thing.
