Had thought about this before and Dawnrazor's thread on great books has sparked these 2 questions:

1) What hobbies and interests do you have EXCLUDING your passion for bikes?

2) And do you love materilistic toys? If you had an unlimited budget to spend on ONE item EXCLUDING a bike - what would you buy?

I'd have to answer:

1) Sport - watching or playing. I love hockey and play all year round.

2) My big spend... (is kinda cheating as it's more than one item)... a Tim- the-Tool-man-Taylor garage/workshop! I love powertools and DIY but lack anything that resembles a garage at the mo. I dont want some battery power drill though. Has to be meaty!
Then I guess I'd need a shitter of a house or car to pull to bits....

Well its in my profile, but love Apple Macs and doing web-dev stuff, so I would say a full-on Mac G5 setup would be sweet. I love gadgets full-stop so PSP's, DVRs etc are the go too. Thanks for asking.

1. Motorsport involving bikes, Minimoto, Web-dev stuff, making shit and RC Helis.

2. My big spend would be following the Motogp guys around for a year, country to country & hanging with one of the teams :)

I'm a bit of a car nut and spend far too much on ridiculous cars. Am about to do it again. In fact if it has a motor, I want it. I just counted my total garage horse power...

SUV 290hp
Car 320hp (soon 350 hp)
CBR 170hp (crank)
CRF 40hp
TR50 5hp
Boat 240hp
Leaf Blower 1hp
Generator 3hp

Total 1069 Hp. Fuck that's ridiculous. Eat your heart out Greenpeace.

Music, Hifi, Overclocking/computery crap, Things that go, Lasers, Pyro stuff and making Texmo his larrtays.

Big spend. Hrmm... something geeky like a small movie theatre or a supercomputer. Something that would be fun to tinker with. A private railway/ roadway would be cool too :niceone:

...Leaf Blower 1hp

Cute. I love extravagant power tools! I chopped firewood at a guys place a few weeks back, wasnt like the ol' days. He has toys for everything!
We pulled the tree down with a wee mini digger. Chain-sawed it into rings. Carted the rings up onto the driveway in the trailer on the back of the 4 wheeler. Split the wood on the hydraulic splitter, then cleaned up with the multcher!
Hardly raised a sweat!!

Kayaking
Gym
Mountain Biking
Music....from Opera to Acid Jazz, anything that sounds good.
Catching up with mates.

STOP!!! I getting aroused.

I'm a gym junkie. My big goal for this year is going to be conpeting at the NABBA show in Wellington (September). Other than that I coach rugby at Wellington college - don't care what grade. I have competed in (and won) the Flugatag comp. last held in Wgtn and the Trolley GP in Auckland. I really enjoy making stuff. My old man was a qualified mechanic turned qualified builder, so making stuff is in the blood.

Big spend? Hmmm ... Bikes, Cars, House,.... If I had an unlimited budget I'd build my own house that I've designed. Split level, vista's, deck+spa, 3 car garage, bike garage and workshop (fully kitted out - hydraulic lift and all) not much really

I can be a bit of an outdoor freak at times...

Camping, Tramping, Kayaking, Snowboarding, Mountain Biking, Shooting, Fishing, Fishing, Fishing and gym training

If I had the cash I would own and operate the country's most successful charter hunting and fishing company (Game and general saltwater). :2thumbsup

1) Watersports (surfing, diving, sailing, kayaking, fishing, etc), DJ'ing, cars, hometheatre, travel.

2) Depends who's coin I'm doing the spend on. If it was mine, then probably a jetski or something would be high up on the list for my next big splurge. Followed in order (as I get more money) by a new car, a holiday, then a projector.

However, if its someone elses unlimited coin to spend on one hobby, I'd be going for a studio, sound proofed and set up with couple of techie mk5G's with ortophones, an A&H Xone 92, the mac-daddy computer set up to record and master, plus a Proel rig with bass bins for africa, sufficient shelving to store a couple of thousand recs plus the budget to fill said shelves with fresh choons.

That'd just about do me, I reckon.

*sigh*

Mine would be similar... Huge recording studio with the following:
: Some nice four string bass, and a fretless one too with a huge Trace Elliot Amp
: My 2 guitars are fine, but want the Line6 Vetta II with all four 4x12 cabinets
: The drum kit that the guy in Mudvayne has - indicated by picture #1 & #2
: An electric violin (cause those look the shit)
: Multi-track recording stuff...

...attached to a nice house (with a couple of bikes in the garage, all of the t-shirts indicated in picture #3 :D : especially the 1st one with the superbike, which reads "I Suppose you have a Car in your Garage.

Hey, it is just a generator. You just switch it on and hit the start button. There's not much more to it.

I forgot to mention my obsession with gadgets. I often go camping (tent variety) and take my covered trailer with all the stuff in it. On top of the trailer I've got a 100w solar panel, 400aH of deep cycle batteries and a 240v inverter. What for you might ask? Sky. I also have a portable gas fridge freezer, gas hot water heater and pump and some other stuff. Nothing like roughing it.

All the other campers were laughing at us until the cricket was on. Then the ladies found out about our shower. We made alot of friends that summer.

here's a repost, but with all the writing:

page 1 going down:
1. I suppose you have a car in your garage.
2. King Of The Hill - Playing King of the Hill has never changed. It's still about me being faster than you.
3. When does a hobbie turn into a sickness
4. Xtreme
5. A good relationship is buiilt on spending quality time together
6. KEEPER - She's rich, smart, beautiful, and willing to clean the air filter
7. Nice car -what I could see of it
page 2 going down:
1. "To be old and wise you must first be young and stupid"
2. She said: If I go riding one more time, she's gonna leave me. ... I'm gonna miss her.
3. Why adopt a highway when you can own it?
4. What about my wants, my needs? <superbikes>
5. You don't stop riding because you get old: you get old because you stop riding
6. How many times have i told you not to play in the house <two dirtbikes riding down stairs>
7. How many blondes does it take to change a sparkplug?
a) as many as you can fit into a box van. b) one per thread is a good rule of thumb. c) as many as it takes, dammit!. d) what's a sparkplug?
8. "I eat, breathe, sleep, ride, talk, dream, live and love motorcycles"

1) RC Planes - flying & building, WW1 & WW2 history, Photography, Mountain Biking, Shooting, Camping.

2) 20 acres or so out in the country, a decent sized house in the middle away from neighbours, a whacking great workshop with all the goodies, a whacking great garage for all the big toys, a pilots licence & a world trip round all the war museums and old battlefields. OK, so it's not one item, but you did say unlimited budget.

1. Computers, politics, celtic culture.
2. If I had an unlimited budget, I'd buy the country.. Literally.. Bribe the politicians to do what I want, put contracts on any that wont agree. Once my puppets were in control, launch hostile takeovers of all the former-SOE's, and return them to government control. Require all land in the country to be owned by NZ citizens, no foreign ownership of soil. Massive tax breaks for 100% nz owned business. Reintroduce import tariffs, subsidies etc, to support NZ owned business. Withdraw from the WTO, and renounce any free-trade agreements. Introduce harsh immigration laws, and deport any current immigrant residents/citizens who fail a stringent english language ability test.
Deport any immigrant who's been convicted of any crime worse than a speeding ticket. I could go on :-)

with 16 pushbikes ranging from dump-collected pitties to $10000 carbon road bike jobbies i don't need any more of those. a nice carbon/kevlar race kayak would be nice I (got a glass ski but it's old and not fast enough). just got a brand new house with 119" theatre. a new dodge ram ute would be good to transport the dogs in.

ultimate buy? 2 seater spitfire MKXII. or at a pinch i'd settle for a 'stang, or as mentioned by someone else, a sea fury. something loud, fast, beautiful.

Actualy motorcycles don't rate very important with me at all.
Even though I,ve been involved with them for 30 odd years I have gone a couple of years at a time an never missed not having a bike in that time.
Bikes come an go,I really don't give a shit about them, their just machines.
Hunting is my main interest,I have a small collection of things that go bang and a fairly large collection of things that go twang.
I started hunting when I was around 7 years old when an uncle took me rabbit shooting. In the time since then I've taken most game animals in NZ baring Thar, white tail, and Sambar.
Most of my hunting today is done with a Bow.I prefer Traditional gear an shoot both Longbow and Recurve. The last couple of years bikes have actualy intruded on my hunting a bit but I've solved that resently by selling the XS and puting the money on a custom built recurve from Huntsman in Australia.
As far as the what would you buy question,I'd just pay off my house, other than that life is pretty bloody good.

It sucks, it a bitch to pull and a total bastard to climb with, but with 121cc's, it does cut wood rather well. Luckily I have about a dozen others that are smaller.
