Keep forgetting to post this, but pretty much the whole gorge is having road works done. I wouldnt bother riding it at the moment.

Sandstone is one big gravel pit too. I was so disgusted when I saw it, I did a U-turn and went home by my more usual route.

I rode thru the Happy Valley End near Hotel Du Vin this morning - its all Road Works there as well - I personally wouldnt like to see anyone ignore the signs there, could end in tears... looks like they have both ends of the Hunua Valley area covered :slap:

It's not that bad, had a bit of fun slipping and sliding through it last night. Just keeps yah on your toes.

Road works all over the place around Papakura at the moment, must have plenty of funds left over at the end of financial year.

Have trouble avoiding them at the moment.

what would be nice if they actually sealed the roads, rather than dumping a whole lot of gravel and spreading it. And once they've finished there are no warning signs to tell you that there's shitloads of loose gravel. And I just love all the stone chips that are appearing on my car and bike!

I Like the Hunua Gorge ride. Was getting rough in patches so no wonder they are sealing parts.

Yep, the way they seal roads is downright dangerous. Hardly any signs, then toss a new patch of seal and loose gravel right in your line half way around a corner. Makes for exciting riding alright and with the works going on everywhere, it's stuffing some good rides. Be nice if they at least roll sweeped the excess gravel off instead of relying on us to cart it home when it gets tossed all over your gear and bike.

The Coro Loop, from Coro to Thames has patches everywhere, the drop down to Hotel DuVin has a whole stretch (not too bad yet as they were yet to seal) Kopu to Hikuia has some stretchs so there's not many rides without them at the mo.

Yes, I have many new stone chips on my tank from last weekends Coro loop. :(

Those nice little piles that form by the curb raise the excitement a tad:spudwow:
