What: A ride in the Northern Valleys in da dark
When: Thursday night after work on the 30th March
Where: Meeting @ Shell Westgate (at the end of the North Western M/Way)
Why: Because there is more to motorcycling than just talking about it and its a good way to test your headlight!
Time: Meeting there from 6.30pm departing @ 7pm
Pace: Open to all - This ride will be in the DARK so I would recommend changing your tinted helmet visior to a clear one.
The route will be discussed on the night. For those worried about distance/time the ride will last for approx 1hr and is 70kms long. We start at Westgate and finish up at the old Albany Pub. Even if you cant make the ride, how about joining us at the pub?
Remember this ride is WEATHER PERMITTING - I will post up in the thread if it is postponed due to weather. I will decide on the day and post after 5pm.
Disclaimer: You participate on this ride at your own risk. I will not be held accoundable for anyones actions, to/from and during the ride.

yup, I'll be there..
Could I have a volunteer please? I can't get to the Shell starting point on time, so I have to head you off on the ride. But I can't tell if you've passed or not. So if you pass and there's no bright orange bike with 2 peeps on (if Kell is coming), could someone just hang back and I'll be there as soon as. If there's no one there, then I can hang there until everyone passes..?
The road is on Old North Road, opposite Deacon Road on this map (http://www.nzmaps.co.nz/nzmap.php3?p=t&t=bb02&x=101&y=113&w=3&h=3&z=1&f=none).

Even Jesus socialised with undesirables......sorry, non believers......

Arh but that is not true Lou...........but I guess that is the advantage of being positive eh?
As for pride....well it is not for me to have pride......it is not a word in my dictionary.............I am happy to make mistakes.....

Ok peoples!
Good news about tomorrow night............ weather is goin to be shit hot! So shes all "Thunderbirds are go!" :woohoo:
Some thoughts to consider:
- Remember I dont want to see anyone turn up tomorrow night with a damn tinted/irridium visor on! Any chance to lessen the risks we take in our riding the better! (If you dont have a clear visor, may I suggest buying/borrowing a pair of clear saftey glasses and keep ya tint visor up....)
- Darkness = Slower speeds (self explained...) I may have Custard on the back so the pace will be cruz-medium mode.
- I'm doin the rides not for so much the riding itself (very limited with time) but the social get-together at the Albany pub afterwards. :drinknsin So if you can't make the ride, try and make the pub and meet fellow Kbers! :2thumbsup
Any other thoughts/worries?

I know this is a completely random, useless, pointless and senseless post, however after reading through the latest posts in this thread the YMCA song popped into my head and I'm dancing in my chair.
I SAID YOUNG MAN...
Someone save me. Where is Jesus in a moment of crisis?
EDIT: See you all tonight, anyone wanting to hit on my can do so, just don't do it in front of Gareth, he gets jealous, BAD.

Another good ride thanks Qkchk! I'm not usually a night rider but after tonights enjoyment i'll be a starter again. Twas a bit daunting going around some of those tight back road twisties but because i'm quite familiar with those roads i managed to stay clear of having any hairy moments!
Good conversation & pleasant company at the Old Albany finished the night off well, it's always a plus to see a healthy turnout of bikes to these events. Keep up the good work Qkchk.

Another good ride thanks QkChk. Really enjoyed the ride home along Riverhead - Coatesville for some reason. Must have finally got into the groove after riding with the group. It is certainly different riding at night on those roads!
Phoenix there was about 15 bikes at a guess?

Was good to finally get out on one of the Thursday night rides. I have to admit tho, I found it more comfortable letting the others in front get ahead a little so I could go on hi-beam, especially heading down from Dairy Flat. Enjoyed the ride tho, good to catch up with some faces I havent seen for a while!
And Keystone, I counted 15 bikes.
bugjuice
31st March 2006, 09:27
i guessed about 15!
yeah, had a ball, and a good run. I might just make a pact with whoever is in front/behind and just say leave the beam on and just don't look back. then we all see more

Great ride last light even if I did make a complete mess of the corners coming through the forest:argh:. My thoughts are if you can ride well at night your skills durring the daylight hours are going to improve as well.

What time did ya turn up? We left Westgate at 7.05 so ya must of been running on Hamiltonion time  Sounds like you (or someone ;)) had a ball without us :corn: ....... next week, same time same place......
Qkchk
31st March 2006, 17:25
Thanks guys for turning up......... it aint a ride without the company... A big thank you to the people who singled out to do "Pointsman" work - Zed, Keystone, BlackBuell, Potzman, Buggy and anyone else I have forgotten. It makes the ride just that we bit smoother. It will take time and experience to iron out the bugs completely, but we will get there. Same time same place for next week. :grouphug:
