been playing with Google Earth (http://www.earth.google.com/), and found some real cool places. One of them is this Holden Proving Ground.. I have a cuz who works for Holden, I wonder if she could get me and the bike on there..?? Plugins here too (http://www.googleearthhacks.com/)
Anyway, I thought the whole program is cool, cos altho most of NZ is in lowish resolution, you can still make out some race tracks, and others around the world, and find out other stuff like hotels and airport etc..
Unfortunately not great enough that I could fine a new squid patch..
oh, but it's free, and a great way to use up some of that bandwidth..

yup, playing on it now..
have you seen Tokyo? talk about SimCity..
I've just been to the Grand Canyon and the Statue of Liberty too. Shame I didn't remember my camera. Boss would be impressed.
It's a shame a lot of NZ stuff is lower res too
In the high res areas, there's 3d mountains you can revolve around too.. now, where did I put Everest..?
various shots, to show the 3D effect of Mt Everest.. don't look that big..

Dammit I suck at this.
Either you tell us where it is or we just carpet bomb Whangaparoa Pen. Theres a few plastic houses and contrived mediteranian rivera type developments I like to melt to the ground.
Man...I need a coffee.

Mate if the usual story is to be believed, the whole peninsula's fucked.

the worlds largest 'airfix' place..
kinda linked to this thread (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=17527), click on the link in my post, in this thread, to find out about it.. it's a 5 minute mini-doco on it. But just to use Google Earth to explore round it is pretty cool..

Google Earth is a great app, i have varying bouts of enthusiasm with it though, great entertainment when visitors are over. A better program is Nasas World Wind, but the file size is huge compared to GE and you need a pretty fast computer to make it run smooth. :niceone:
Some s/shots are attached from GE after reading Buggys 1st post.
