Ah, were you the guy that Chris Costello cracked the joke about being expensive and not free???

24th March 2006, 22:08
Well race bike is running like shit so may not have it running for this round. May run R1 in clubmans instead, what are the rules / regs for clubmans? Are there any time limits that you cant go faster than? Otherwise might go in F1 for a laugh, beats not racing at all eh.

Yep, that was me. I knew it was you, cause I'd read your crash report about sliding into the bails getting knocked out and shoulder damage etc. Oh yeah, and GarethD had pointed out your girlfriend to me in Paeroa  when on flag waving duty... good riding mate :)
Oh and dss3... I think if you are running under 1:10, Clubmans probably ain't suitable. I'm running my CBR250RR in F3 rather than going clubmans, I know I'm going to get spooged, but I should be able to prevent being lapped. I'm pretty sure I can run consistently under 1:20... we'll find out on the day.
Do they time everybody's laps all the time so you get your best lap time?

Thought that might be the case, will have to get the NC30 running or just enter F1.

Nah they don't care about the 1:10 rule. dss3 should lap the Clubbie field in the six laps and vtec twice. :slap:
I think the chick racing clubmans will talk to him just so he doesn't make her look too slow.

1.13 I can only dream of that, I qualified a 1.17 onm e 400 and still ashamed to say so, fucken pathetic. good thing is I know what its all about, I need to carry more corner speed and focus more, particulary on where Im going, had far to much fixation on the bike infront, Oh yeah all sounds easy eh, but it aint. Last Friday put me on line a lot more so my target is a 1.13 this Saturday, the bike is capable of it for sure, lets see how I go

Hi guys, just a quick query about the race this weekend. I've currently got a brand new GPR70 on the rear, and a BT090 on the front, I'm used to the BT090 on the front and I really like it, and the GPR70 is a massive improvement over the Cyrox that I had on the back, I do have a spare GPR70 front wheel and tyre, but I want to continue with the BT090 on the front.
My question is, are there any rules stating that you have to have matching front and rear tyres? I'm getting pretty anal just trying to make sure everything is perfect for my first race :) messing around with sprockets and all sorts.
Also wondering whether you need any special kind of wire for wiring your sump plug and filter cover... I've used stripped copper wire, will this be allowed?

No you dont need matching tyres.... But i think it would be better....
yes you need special type of wire... most bike shops will stock lock wire (i know colemans do)... Copper wire wont be allowed

Usually get a few 600's cross entering... Some of the slow guys are doing 1:05's... Most 1000's are around the 60 second mark, as are the quick 600's... So should have a few people to play with and learn from...

That guy Neil Martin on the Gixxer K5 No 77 at Taupo on Friday can do 1:02. Since you were I think going faster on Friday than Neil you should be OK. People were moaning that there were not any Yamahas racing so you and your Ti tipped sliders will be welcome.
But hey if you feel like getting the learn in Clubmans feel free to join us.
