View Full Version : I bought another road/race bike!!

Before I fall asleep (literally) cuz I'm tired as f*k at this late hour, I just wanted to spread the good news.

The original plan was to settle down a bit and enjoy other things in life while still having a bike to keep me going. Hence I bought a practical and comfertable cheap road bike that was nice, the '92 CBR600F. It would have been the perfect commuter and also the odd road ride bike.

After having it for a few weeks, I came to the conclusion that my hooning days are far from over and I really need something that is a bit faster and better to thrash around in (that is also cappable of better wheelies!).

So next thing you know, I ended up selling my 1992 CBR600F and bought me a 2004 Yamaha YZF-R6 Nat level race bike with road gear!

It's got all the trick bits like the Ohlins rear shock, Ohlins front internals, Ohlins Steering Damper, Race pipe, Power comander, race and road fairings, Spare rims for wets plus heaps more!!

So at the moment, I could possibly make a come back into F2 or just have a good time riding it around on the road and just do some track days. I just don't know what I'll do with it yet.

P.S. The picture attached is not of my R6, but it's the same colour, year and model.

Will you be racing 01/04/06 at Puke - let me know. With Shauns help hopefully my 600 will be there.

Cheers guys! Pretty stoked about it myself. Can't wait to do Taupo full circuit on it next week (hopefull... fingers crossed)...

Nice bike mate :niceone:

Na man, still got the GSXR... I gotta go and work on the paint work in the Garage now actually... It'll be finished for next week for someone to have a play in. It should be lookin pretty sexy in Midnight black... I'm selling that for a low low special price of only $ 4,499.99c!!!! It'll make a great reliable track bike or Clubmans race bike.

Did you get it while you was in NP? Next time your down this way give us all a holler and we can catch up MR. :niceone:

Technicall I haven't got it yet. I pick it up on this Tuesday night from New Plymouth. I got the cash in hand and the bike will be ready by then so it's a done deal. It'd be great to catch up with you and your fellow New Plymouthians but I will arrive late on Tuesday night, do the deal, have a sleep and then head to Taupo track in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Next time I am down there for a while, I'll definetly let you guys know! :niceone:

Im halfway between deciding to spend money on ohlins bits for the '99 or save up more and get a later model one..I would have expected a tree avoidance mechanism to have a higher priority than suspension work.

Have you invented one yet Skid? You might need one for your farm bike sooner than later

Speed Racer used to have circular saw blades that came out of the front of his car to cut down the trees in front...that would a touch odd, but lane splitting would be much easier.
