The indemity form was signed, the fuel was mixed and the rider excited. A quick run up then clunk, RING DING ding ding, my bucket fired and away I went, rolling out of the pit in first gear and onto the track.
The bike cost me a box of beers, a $7 spark lug, $10 worth of gear oil and another $10 for 6.66 litres of 91 unleaded. Plus an addition $10 for a "have a go pass" for the day. Who said racing was exspensive?
Although, I didn't get to race today as it is a requirement that riders have a pair of one or two piece leathers. Despite that, I got plenty of track time and eventually got down from an original 48 second to 40 second lap time after 15 or 20 laps. The top guys can do it around 28 to 31 seconds and the average seems to be around 33 to 38 seconds.
It was a new experience riding a two stroke too as I've mainly ridden four strokes, so it took a while to get use to the bike and what gears to use when and how.
Photos below of me hooning around the track. I even took my little girl along and she enjoyed all the noise. Her mother reckons we should get a pony for her when she can walk, but I'm thinking a little pocket bike :niceone:
Anyone wanting to give buckets ago is welcome to have a go on my bike, just send me a PM or come along to the next meet.
