View Full Version : KB Rally 4 Date poll
Quasievil
20th March 2006, 09:42
Further to Stonechuckers thread about another KB rally I would like to run a quick poll for potential dates for the event to occur
there is racing etc to consider but at this early stage ive only considered dates and excluded dates on the KB calender "the great KB track day for example.
I think May would be most suitable, any later its to cold any earlier makes the planning time short.
the winning date may not be the actual date due to availability of the venue.
The Venue will be the same as last time, in National Park, excellent location for all in North Island and the venue can accomodate a large number and it has all facilities available.

May 12-14 is Cold Duck time in Hawkes Bay. Hard to find a date that doesn't clash with something eh?

April 22/23 - like last year, the weekend before Anzac day. If you take the Monday off, you get a 4 day weekend to do a bit of a tour on the way home. Or you get some time off to recover from the rally, or mow the lawns or whatever.
No Supr14 finals or AB tests that weekend either
Also June /July the venue may be booked with skiers

Yep - I'm keen.
It could always be the same weekend as the Taupo trackday, as in the night before? If it's a Sun that is (I can't remember). I'm not fussed though. But last time I'm sure it was sleet that we were riding back in so the further away from winter (either side) the better!
THANKS QUASI!!!! :first: If I can help at all flick me a pm. (BTW - forgot to put in the Auck thread - sorry we never got to all meet up in the end).

Just been having a coffee & natter with Quasi. This would have to be THE best value you will ever get at a rally. And to ensure this, we are working on an idea.....

I like the idea of it being on a long weekend, but it really doesn't bother me. I work really short hours at the moment. I hope whichever date it is, most people could make it, the more the merrier!
Having it at the National Park again is a great idea. It really is a great location, with bar (you can run a tab, and pay the next morning! Great idea, saves all that fumbling in your wallet when pissed eh!), games room, heaps of bedrooms, a spa bath and good shower / bathroom facilities.
I only wish it could be as much fun for me as last time (for you all it will be). I hope I have a car by then too:confused:

April 22/23 - like last year, the weekend before Anzac day. Yup sounds good what you have suggested.
One thing, most South Islanders wont make it as that is the weekend the South Island Cup round one is running at Levels. But hey, lasy year there were very few southerners anyway.

now I see the 20-21st May is not in the choices... I asume due to it being the w/e of the track day.
BUT If It was then I'd be keen for that w/e as after the rally we can go racing, two birds with one stone... just my thoughts, for now :ride:

Yeah I hear ya on that, and I thought about that also, but the thing is people will be getting drunk and I dont think that would be very responsible eh. Dangerous it would be bloody awesome if you can come, I know youve been wanting to get up here for a while
At the moment Im waiting for a heads up from the lodge as to suitable / available dates
My expectation is accomodation/meals (cooked) will be between $65-$80 per head as a single and $90 ish per head for a double room
I will post the information soon though so sit tight people
Cheers

Just bumping this back up.
I reacon the day before Frostys trackday at Taupo would be good. Get to the venue early relax and then get up early and ride to the trackday to spectate or ride. Then ride home with others going the same way.

The same WE as the Track day would be awesome fa me. Plan ta play support preson that day anyway and I can handle not getting shit faced Sat night. Beside it didn't stop certian riders from getting pissed the day before last Track day, even after being warned otherwise.

oh yeah... and for those in the south, i checked and the cost of ferry across the most expensive piece of water in the world is... $69 each way per bike and rider for that weekend in may (trackday one that is).
Its prob the same for most others i would say, except holiday ones...they may be different.
So any news on this so far? When do we book for?

damn I clicked on april 22 then remembered thats the Biker Angels ride... My vote is for June 3-4, Queens B/day wkend so the Monday is a holiday.
We are nearly in April now so Anzac wkend doesn't allow much time for those with animals/families/committments to get sorted...
