Legs of travel, I can do Hamilton to Auckland if you like.. Get guys to pass the parcel city to city?
A bit risky I suppose, but might be a cheaper way (guys pay their own gas, Pillion back with a mate!)

Could always get a return flight... and see if you can sneak the bike in as hand luggage...

Cheapest flight to Christchurch from Auckland - $89.00. Cheapest Interislander ferry ticket for 1 adult plus motorcycle - $69.00.

+ fuel and food.

I'm sure a kind KBer would put someone up for the night on the way back if need be.

Now you just need a volunteer.

$450? That's weird, they charged $350 to send my bike up from Chch. Maybe they've upped their prices due to fuel costs? How soon do you need the bike? I might be able to get it on an air force flight.

fly down to christchurch and ride it back

have bought several bikes from christchurch motorcylces when they were still trading, they used to refund your airticket if you bought a bike

spring creek camping ground about 10 miles south of picton has cheap accom

you can easily get from there to auckalnd in one day with an early ferry crossing

fly down sat morning and you can be home sunday evening

not very difficult

if you time it right frosty i could do it for you. I can get to chch for free, but it would cost ya the gas + interislander for the way back. Otherwise i can do it nearly any given weekend.

just show up... my old man has to wear uniform, they usually say to wear jeans/dress pants and a collared shirt, but i havent seen them tell anyone wearing anything otherwise that they cant get on the plane.

Try Mana Transport. they got my Guzzi from Nelson to Auckland for $250.
Interestingly the bike went from nelson, down the west coast then over to Chch, up the east coast to picton. from wellington up to auckland. they werent going to stop in Auck as the truck was full of stuff going up north and they didnt want to repack the truck after taking the bike out. but after a quick chat with them they agreed to take it out on the way up north.
I was told by Thunder Cycle that they WILL break something, in my case it was a headlight lens. no biggie. i didnt take out extra insurance...
