There's been plenty of 'em getting away with it round ére lately'. Two heists in the Hutt in the past month, about ten bikes alltogether me thinks.

TSS got done over first. thieves got around four bikes & took off. Apparently some drunk walked past the crimescene & pushed a new KTM around 2km before he got tired & left it in da bushes.... Lazy shit.

Bike thieves are complete scum and deserve to be hung by the soft bits with rusty fishing hooks from under the kennedy good bridge. I think we should have a sticky on here to help any fellow bikers who get their rides jacked.

TSS have always been good to me and they didnt deserve to be done over. Sux its always the good people.

Anyone tried out one of those bike alarms? I thought I might get one. Even though my bike is worth about a G in the real world, its priceless to me.

WRT
22nd March 2006, 08:57
If I was going to get a bike alarm, I would want a perimeter sensor for it. Last thing you want is some fk-knuckle hopping on it then freaking out and dropping it when the alarm goes off underneath him.

Something like this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Scorpio-i500-Motorcycle-Alarm-Perimeter-Sensor_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34284QQitemZ4622 885463).

WTF?

First you say:

sorry to say it but bikes are easy as piss to steal

So bike theives are fine, upstanding citizens then? Fuck off!
Bikes are easy to steal, so it's ok? No, wait a minute, then you say:

that doesnt condone it but man its pretty easy:P

Have you got your head screwed on properly? You just contradicted yourself.

Get a clue.

So because bikes are easy to steal that means that the people stealing them aren't scum?

Right, gotcha.

LOL.
The same logic can be applied to child-rape then. Because children are easy to rape that means the people raping them aren't scum.

I'd second Spudchucka: Right, gotcha.

Where are we on KAAG? Is that group gonna be coming through?

Please tell me you are kidding, you are not only telling us its OK but telling others how to do it and saying its partly our fault because we ride something so EASY to steal!
I would find it EASY to hurt you to the point of permanent disability, BUT I wouldnt do it just because I find it easy.
I would need a much better reason, like finding someone trying to steal my bike for example. lol

What a piss poor philosophy you have. If I leave my wallet in the middle of the road, I would expect someone to pick it up, and after they have handed it in to the nearest Police Station I would thank them, not blame them.

Surely you don't believe that every unattended object is fair game for anyone to steal. That is the attitude that encourages theft. I believe that I should be able to park my bike anywhere that's legal, and even with the keys still in it, it should be there when I return. If its gone then that is theft. Both legally and morally wrong.

Maybe you look up to this type of person who would steal something just because its unattended, but I would treat them as the lowest of the low.

Go back and kiss possums and hug trees. I had my bike locked up. Have a look at my post re: TT350 being nicked, was not asking for it sunshine and took all reasonable steps to avoid theift. Moral of the story is: if someone wants it bad enough, they often take it. Rep awarded sutage, hope you dont end up in the same position as it was a pisser having my runnabout stolen:moon:

Thieves are scum, or expanded for your obviously drug fucked brain to understand; People who take other peoples property unlawfully are the dregs of society (or scum if you like).

People who unlawfully take other peoples motorcycles are the worst type of this scum (to a biker).

I find it interesting how a thread has changed (by staying on topic??) from being a simple "what's coming up on TV tonight" to where we are now.
Bike thieves are not very high on the evolutionary scale of things, but does anyone have any recent developments in, or suggestions for, security systems for bikes?

onearmedbandit
23rd March 2006, 12:17
Ground anchors, disk locks, alarms, bike covers, big fucking dog, alarm system in your garage with a camera remote feeding to a website you can monitor, gps based alarm system on bike, parking it in highly visible places, never leaving it alone, stop buying 'cheap' bikes or parts off dodgey characters, etc, etc, etc.

imdying
23rd March 2006, 12:23
GPS tracking is available. Might save your bike if it's not obvious, they don't strip it straight away, and the antenna can get a clear signal out from where it's stored. At a bare minimum, it should be able to show the route taken to wherever it ends up, so so long as they don't take it somewhere, disable the GPS, and then move it, you'll be ok. Having said that, you could make it fairly innocuous.

my ute was been attempted stolen twice in 6 months(September then January).
I've had 1 van stolen & also 1 motorcycle. 5 home burglaries, countless vehicle break ins etc.
everything was locked at the time. I lost count of the overall cost to me but it runs well into the tens of thousands of dollars & continues to cost me.
I strongly disagree with You Sutage, don't try to make allowances for this kind of behaviour.
I chased a stolen subaru yesterday hoping to attract the attention of some cops(no cellphone) but when they started speeding & running red lights i had to pull out. I woulda rammed them but i knew there'd be no insurance & i'd be in the shit. those assholes stole someone elses hard earned stuff then put others in danger trying to escape being caught. there is no need for these people.

this gps thingy which allows you to track the vehicle & recover it sounds great.

imdying
23rd March 2006, 14:10
Only problem with the GPS is (from memory, I know Chch BMW were agents at one stage) the $1200-1500 install, plus I think monitoring (which you could also monitor from a webpage, plus unlock/lock/engine cut etc etc) started at about $50 a month. Still, very cool. I expect that they're still agents, always worth a look if you've spent good coin on your ride, you can move it to the next bike.

And I work for my money and I respect that most other people do as well, so if I found a wallet and there was money and identification inside I would hand it in. Knowing that someone else may desperately need that money, or even just that it isn't yours and you haven't earnt it should be enough to convince you. Obviously you're a different case.

Apart from the link in your profile, the idiocy of your posts indicates some sort of reckless drug use. You're gutless, you haven't even got the nuts to have an opinion on whether they're scum or not. Crawl back under the bridge mate, you're either high or trolling.

The members of this site are bike enthusiasts, any one of them can tell their mates bikes from others, just because you think they all look alike doesn't mean everyone else is so unobservant.

You're obviously a little thick, so I'll sound the big words out for you. Have you seen an af-ter-mar-ket pipe? It's a re-place-ment muff-ler, some thing that many of us like to fit. It not only makes our bikes sound dif-fer-ent to other bikes, it also makes them look dif-fer-ent. Things like this let us that lik bikes tell them a-part. Got it?

So if bike theives aren't scum and bikes are very non descript but cars are more individualised does that mean that car theives are scum? If so is it because the car has been modified to their tastes and is therefore somehow more valuable to the owner, thus resulting in the theif actually being scum?

Ok Sutage, I'll give you some credit for trying to back-track on what you said, but really, anyone who thinks it's acceptable to take someone elses' property is scum pure and simple.

I think it's sad that people are so surprised when you find a mobile lying on the ground at the airport and you hand it in at the info desk, or someone has left their keys in their bike at the hospital and you hand them in to the nice people in the blue blazers....both of which I've done in the last few months. I don't consider I've done anything special, just the basic consideration for others you should have to be part of society.

I really think you need to get a grip (of yourself rather than that part of your anatomy)

onearmedbandit

I remember a few years ago I dropped a vehicle that I had sold off to a glazier. Parked outside was a ZZR1100, a very nice bike in its day and still is. The reason it had attracted my attention was that it had a 'for sale' sign on it. So I had a look at it and found the keys were in the ignition. Did I steal it? Of course not, I don't use the same reasoning as Sutage. I rang the owner on his cell phone, turned out his flatmate had parked it there for him in the morning. I grabbed the keys and gave them to the owner of the glass company and told him the owner would be there to collect them soon.

What a fucking idiot I was eh?? I should've taken the bike and transferred the ownership into my name. I mean, the keys were left in it.
