Death & I are keen. Your idea of a ride up to wellsford sounds good. Only hitch for us would be no babysitter, but i shall start begging immediately. Would love to finally meet some of you ladies, (oh and u guys too) :2thumbsup

ooohhh poor SpankMe. Maybe we should all put in for a fluro vest and a bright light for his bike?

Its a pretty confined space so shouldnt be too hard to catch up with each other. Anyone with a shirt will be easy spotted (also short chick with 250 kinda stands out a bit I am guessing) Lets hope the weather forecast is wrong as usual. Unless anyone has an idea of a good place to meet???

Meet anywhere in the carpark, but meet much earlier than the starting time.....?
Time flies when you're having fun, so I reckon on getting there about 9.30 and having breakfast, then being early enough to meet and talk. How's yer hangover ?

Drape a KB T-shirt over the tank - it will get crowded like the Westpac Helicopter run and then its almost impossible to find anyone.

Hey bring your biker Dads and Moms you lot - not all of us KB'ers are dangerously young - we're dangerously um, um, um, dangerously  the other thing ....... lol

What about a meeting place AFTER the run? Any cafes around we could head for in case we miss the group ? Hoping to be there for sure.

0930 sounds like a little early to be getting out of bed on a rainy day, or any day for that matter. I'll probably turn up at about 11:00.

Cheers to all the KB members who said to them selfs "It's only bloody water" and turned up for the run. I guess we separated the real bikers from the fair weather riders :P so we only got a third of the numbers that were there last year.

In the end we only got an occasional light drizzle. I didn't even bother with my wets and just went out with leather jacket and jeans.

Great to meet you guys and girl there :niceone: hope i didnt embarass you guys with my smokey two smoker lol... it may sound funny look funny and not go really quick but its still a bike hehehe, will have to go for a ride with you Affman to see if i can keep up:wacko: ......

Pity there wasnt a better turn out, i didnt even need to wear my wet weather gear  (even though i did)

MikeL
2nd May 2004, 16:45
For once I beat the wet-gear jinx (goes like this: laboriously putting on my plastic overpants normally guarantees fine weather; leaving them off means it will rain for sure). Sometimes in life you've just got to throw caution to the wind...

Great to meet up with the rest of you guys who didn't believe the weather forecast or didn't care.

MadDuck
2nd May 2004, 19:19
Thew caution to the wind regarding the weather cos I thought you lot would give me so much shit for not turning up and was great to meet some more of you. Heaviest rain was up here on the Coast to be honest.

Was a great day and a good cause. And some dude was more than keen to show me SV650. Hmmmm...maybe I will just go test ride one of those babies now

TS ... Affman said he keen for a ride next weekend so maybe we should plan a get together for Saturday (as I know you boys wont have forgotten mothers day ah?).

Being a petrolhead myself, the event clashed with a major at Pukekohe. Decisions decisions. Ronnie Run lost.

And to date, going on a bike ride, far outweighs watching ford piss on holden hehehe *waits for abuse to be hurled*

And before you do hurl that abuse, you can't say i hate holdens, coz i like both fords and holdens, you have to appreciate what both makes have to offer, just like comparing sports bikes with cruisers/standard bikes, they both have good qualities that can be appreciated hehehe

Could have been an explanation for the lower than expected turnout, but, that is just my most humble opinion.

probably next year the organisers need to check other events on that day.

The Ronnie Run has been run on that same weekend every year. It was unfortunate that this year we clashed with the V8's. The V8's had changed their dates to accomadate the round they were to run in China, ( which has sice been canceled). Most of the other charity rides are generally the same. They too keep their rides on the same weekend every year, as this makes the organising alot easier. There is alot of work to be done especially when you have to coordinate with the councils and police. My hat goes off to Stephanie.
I think that this year a couple of other clubs that usually support the run had organised their own rides which clashed which was a little disappointing.
Still, the amount that was raised at this years run was in fact a record. A little over $2000. :2thumbsup
In saying that, thanks to all those that showed up. It is an excellent cause.
I'd just like to extend an invitation to everyone , we have our club nights the first Wednesday of every month at the Harlequine Bar and grill, behind Victoria Park market, starting at around 7.00pm. Good food and a nice atmosphere and if you are worried about bike security the owner kindly allows anyone showing up on a bike to park inside the bar. So if anyones keen we'll see you there this Wednesday night.

Yes, unfortunately timing was poor - you get that - I even work for Ford New Zealand and did not know the dates until it was well past too late - Thanks so much to those that did turn up and braved the elements. As it turned out there was nothing to be afraid of. The rain ? What are we ? a bunch of softies who cant stand a bit of rain ? is the Ronnie run not know as the "Rainey Run" Again thanks so much to those that attended and helped us raise the best ever donation for Ronald MCDonald House. See you all again next year Sunday May 1st - same weekend same spot (except if they move the V8s to the street race circuit !)
