Ok folks I've had a request from AMCC--They were very impressed by the KB involvement in the last AMCC race meeting.
SOOO-----MARSHALLS NEEDED FOR AMCC ROUND 4
The deal is you get to watch all the racing from trackside. You get a free lunch and free entry to the track.
Marshalling is very much the same as at the KB trackdays.
So comeon folks lets support our KB racers and have the best seat in the house.
If you're interested please eiither PM me or call
STEPHANIE MERRYWEATHER--0211188033
or e mail her on smerryweather@gmail.com

Yeah you gals and guys, its a great thing to do...
I did one weekend for them... Had a great time doing it.
It was fun seeing the bikes up so close...
OH most important.
Wear a sunhat and take SUNBLOCK.
You get really badly burnt out there all day with no umbrella's up.
Frosty, unfortunately I can't help out this time...sorry mate.
Due to not being able to stand all day with my leg in a legbrace.
And I wouldnt be able to charge over the fence in a hurry if needed.
Plus also my bike hasnt been repaired yet.

Be warned folk's its a long day stuck in one place and requires total concentration. Having said that its also a front row seat to the racing and a great opportunity to look after your mates racing.
COME ON, HELP OUT!
R6_kid
24th March 2006, 10:58
if you show up about 8-8.30 at the track you should be good, but give stephanie a yell anyway.
Also afterwards you can take your bike on the track to 'help pack up' - i wouldnt suggest going too fast, but that back straight is long, and there are lots of places to do wheelies and not get in trouble

Common sense and pay attention and they should give a brief ahead of time...
Plus someone will have a headpiece on in each stand and you could get to do the running ie: onto the track when no one is racing and throw sand on the oil spills... and swept the crap off that is left on the track in between races..... and help push the bike out the way .... Be their for assistance if someone does crash.
But most of the time you are standing there paying attention and watching them race.
If you are lucky, no one will crash at the point that you are allocated to.
Its real easy... but hard on your legs when you are standing all day in the one spot. So wear comfy shoes and sunhat and apply heaps of sunblock...
They supply you on the day, lovely ORANGE overalls and or a ORANGE vest to wear the whole time.

:niceone: Now, obviously coming on the bike, so is there a place I could put my gear during the day??
so it would be cordura pants with shorts underneath, the pants off at track... shorts OK if I don't get overalls??

Yep there is a huge room that is where we all dumped our gears last time... the organisers are in that building the whole time so the gear is safe.
Thats also the room where you sign in to be a marshall and get the lovely ORANGE overalls from as well.
Mate if its a hot day, then wear the overalls over your shorts... they keep you cool... but if you can also get the vest as well... they had plenty last time...
I started out with the vest and then went to the overalls as I got extremly sunburnt up at Point 2., the overalls actually cooled me down heaps.
Plus also get a size bigger than you normally would...
Its not a fashion statement out there cos everyone is wearing the same stuff...
So seriously get the overalls. You have to wear one or the other... but if possible have both with you...
Yes they have them in your size.....
For me I had to turn them up at the cuffs...
Dang it being so damned short.

Yeah right.... you wearing ORANGE overalls whilst out riding your ORANGE 636 all you would need then is a ORANGE helmet.....
Yep that would so lovely and just ummm so fashionable...
you trendsetter you...

Shorts and overalls on a hot day?? If they let me go with the vest, then I'll be good.
Work on building sites, summer and winter, so I'm very used to the heat. Nothing worse than working on a highly reflective concrete pad on a scorching day.
Thanks for the tips, one last thing... parking?? normal car park, or do marshalls have somewhere for their pride and joys  (and somewhere away from 'orrible ugly orange bikes)

Ya park ya baby inside.. up near the building... away from the race bikes and their tents etc. Just wait til they open up the sliding gate and ride over the track and up towards the building that is on your left.
Remember that you will be standing in the same spot all day... so wear comfy shoes... your boots will be fine if you throw them in a bag with your other gear.
As Frosty said Drinks and food are supplied...
the food they give you is great and grab heaps of bottles of fluids to last you all day... so that you dont dehyrate out there.
Last time there was both water and a flavoured drink (energy drink).
So grab both types.

That was eye opening... Someone tell me, was 77 an r6 or an r1? I was damn sure it was an r6, had the shape and stubby muffler, but someone was saying it was open class, because of the white background on the number, and hence 1000cc...
Asides from that, cheers to the guys that crashed on turn 6 that didn't nut out on us. To the lady that did... I'm glad to see you were OK, we were just trying to make sure you weren't injured, nice words go down nicer!!

I think you might be talking about the red and white R6 that was being ridden by Sam Smith, doing 60 sec laps and whipping us 1000's.

Hey Jill, good going from gareth and my point. Looking comfortable on the bike.
And put poor deluded gareth out of his misery. He swore that you winked at him as you came round on one lap :wait:
And yes, I reckon gareth, myself, spb and the other 2 on point 10 had the box seat for the F1 races. Absolute highlight of the day watching them (Sam on 88, and 11 also, occasionally duelling VERY close) blast round our couple of corners.
Next time I'll take me camera and see if I can snap a few off.... good practice either way.

Cause you were grumpy, you just fell of a motorbike, what did you expect a freckin plesant conversation over a cup of tea and scones.
If you expect pleasantries from people who have crashed you shouldnt be a marshall.
Jills me mate and shes loverly to everyone.
However I thoughtyou marshalls were bloody brilliant, its a long time to be out there so nice one

I don't think abusive was the correct term, And I was really impressed with your riding (what we could see of it from there) but you put on quite a show!
We were a bit scared you were gonna smack us with your gloves, or kill anything within swinging distance!!
Glad you were OK, and it was good to see you jump straight back on and out. Exhaust looked like it was bent in over the wheel, did that cause any problems?
Sorry if it seemed I was being snarky, maybe it was a long day or something.
It was seriously cool to watch the racing, I was only sorry I didn't get there a bit earlier, and have a chance to meet you guys!

Yeah, as Motobob would say - I threw a bit of a tanty! I was very lucky to be able to get back on.
No, the exhaust didn't cause a problem thankfully, but we did need to rivit it back together and push it back into place before getting the bike rescrutineered.

Was it you riding with Classics or whatever the heck they were? Are you buying the bike, or just blatting it? Thing had some serious power off the hairpin (sorry if I bugger all the corner names etc up, my first time at Puke, and my first time as a marshall)
Keystone19
2nd April 2006, 21:19
Yeah, Clubmans were riding with pre-89 classics but started about 2 seconds behind so we seem to work up through the pack 'cause mostly we seemed to be on faster bikes.
I was just borrowing the bike which is also why i was so pissed off when I binned it.

Just for the record everyone, I stand corrected, Mild mannered person found at bad time. My bad judgement.
All in all it was a kick ass day...
and I want an 06 r6!!! Was it worked? or stock? Sam was coming in soo damn hot, I could have sworn he'd lose it so many times, always pulled in and through! Respect to all out there!
Another question, the guy on the GSXR that crashed out early on, and was ambulanced away, was he OK? seemed like concussion, but hard to tell. He did a good (demolition) job on the bike anyway!!

Then GSXR dude crashed right in front of me, Speed medic said he thought he may have bruised his lung a little as it sounded funny (not the medical way he put it) so they sent him to for an x-ray to be sure...
