hi. Just wanting some opinions here. what sort of condition would the bikes engine be in if hes been going on 200-300km rides on the weekends? Its pretty far for a wee bike. Also he lives in the hills. Im not sure.
What would you think?
Thanks so much,
Sumzy

Not my cuppa T. It would obviously prefer the longer rides than commuting then? (Maybe, I don't know)

Bike looks fine to me. 'Long rides' are not a problem, are better than many short trips. Price is not bad but freight to you would kill it.

i called up and they said it will cost about $290+gst from Mainfreight. Im sure i may be able to find something a wee bit cheaper. What do you think is a reasonable price for it?

good little bikes. Im sure it would be fine
i wouldnt pay more than 2.5k for it, but thats just me....
300k + rides are not a major and shouldnt impact on engine life.
why not make a cash offer if you are keen,
"Make me a offer! ive found the bike i want to replace this one with!
Any questions or cash offers 0273391648"
offer say 2200 delivered?
worth a try :)
just my 0.02
good luck!

i just texted and asked a few questions about when it was last serviced, if it has a servicing book with it, and what he speed he sat at when riding 300km. Apparently had 3 services. one by his mate, hiself (said hes a mechanic) and one by some suzuki company. Im thinking more about what i should offer. didnt answer other questions yet. Thanks.

he sits at 130-145kmph. Becuase of the speedos being out on FXR would this mean he'd be sitting at like 100kmph? umm is it a bad thing? haha sorry, not really sure!

Best if you know someone knowledgeable in Orkland or someone from kb who knows etc - see if they can eyeball said Fixer. Otherwise what you are told is just 'stories'....

I would be very surprised if the speedo is that far out, something very wrong if it is. The only logical way for it to be that far out is if it is geared down and reads off the gearbox.
Dont take my word for it but im sure the speedo reads from the front wheel so 100 should be 110 on speedo anymore is bad.
They are a good bike but id pay no more than 2,500, as said long distance trips wont be an issue for the engine neither will hill riding.
Running at 140km for long periods on a bike like that may have had an affect on the engine but you'd have to listen to it to know.
Hope that helps good luck.

Just to give you an idea I brought my FXR for 22 hundred about 2 months ago with about 6000kms, in reasonable good condition. My advice is to shop around and dont pay too much. Its probably worth waiting for one closer to you so you can have a look at it before handing over the money. Oh, you probably wont find a 250cc anything more economical than these things.
The speedo on mine reads about 10km/h too high over 100, and about 6 or 7k too high around 50.
