That's a little 'un. They can be twice that size (bigger ov'seas). Not quite as much fun as weta's but still good to freak chicks out with.
We Harvestman (men) down here. They're not spiders although they look like them.

Yeah I have seen pics of huge ones overseas, but that is big for a NZ one isn't it? We get a shit load of weta's at our place. They are wickedly evil looking fuckers. Imagine if they were the size of the ones in King Kong!.

that one is large-ish, but i've seen bigger here, in the bathroom.
They were living in the pepper tree, and climbing in the open window.
Gave me a few frights as i'm having a pee and look left to see a 5inch long (green one) on the wall!

You find them alot in pencil cyprus's, the biggest I have seen was as thick as my little finger and 300mm long (as long as my pruning saw). I didnt know they could get that big! Was so big I was kinda scared of it.

Yup saw one that big in January. We had been on a picnic and my mate rode all the way from Mill Bay to my place with it stuck on her helmet! Is that one cool bug or what! It had the ride of its life!
