COLD That is what that bike is. If it were alive its balls would have fallen off. If you sat on it your balls would fall off. That sort of weather should be illegal.

Well midnightmike you've got it in one. I actually found out the model and it is as he guessed a 1978 CB400. Others guessed it as well but mm was first. Now mm, want to tell us how you were so accurate.

(As is standard practice I've awarded rep to those who were right or on the right track.)

I mean the exact year. Most were guesses of an early or early 80's CB, but to pinpoint the exact year? Unless something in particular gives the bike away.

Hi
Looks like a 1980's Honda with comstar wheels. Maybe something like a CB500X.(was the X for a turbo?) Mr Honda brought out some models that have that general shape & painted white too. I reckon its white under that camouflage. That's my guess
Cheers.

Sit down mate... we need a chat.

The CX500 & 650tc were turboed the CB range were never turboed but did have the comstar wheels as did the CX500a's & b's
The CBX never had comstar or turbo's..... only white bikes were the copers CB's and the CX euro's (includes Turb)
EITHERway....... no 80's bikes looked anything like that snow covered 78 CB400T

Yeah the white XL looked good, but that snowed covered bike dont loot like no XL and geoffc that I quoted never mentioned XL.

The comstar oragional was last seen on the 81 CX then for 1-2yrs they were reversed and painted black. The CBX 1000 the only CBX to have worn these wheels was last seen in 82 (along with the CB250/400N & CB750/900/1100F with gold comie's and if you want to get fussy the R real fussy the GL) from then on the alloy 6 spokers with round holes in them lead the way, along with Honda's idea of inboard vented discs.

BTW... I was doing a (pt) with geoffc, it is info just of the top of my head.

PS... TWR, its all flooding back now to the old memory, bring it on if you want to corect me, but no cheating (googling) ;)

I have a pic of myself on my CBX 750F (1986) with black comstar wheels. My model came out in 1984 & stopped manufacture in 1987 except for a later version made in Brazil I think. You are likely to be right on those other issues. I was thinking CX 500 not CB 500 X. I have become forgetful with age. Too many meals using aluminium pots.

I think Japan was still getting them through that period for local comsumption. In fact it was still in production at least up to last time I took any interest in them.

Nearly there. But not quite.
The first type also came out with black plastic covers hiding the rivets.
Second type or "inverted" also came out painted gold.
Third type are comstars, ie riveted "boomerang" style "spokes" riveted to the rims, also had gold and black variants.
The forth type you mention is just a different coloured boomerang style comstar wheel which you can see the rivets on quite clearly btw.

This shows the rivets clearly too-

Just had a closer lookat the CB250T I posted earlyer on and look what I can see... black caps over the rivets.
What bike/s came out with the inverted goldie's (vaigley remember something)
I dident relise that the alloy wheels were called comstars aswell.
My origional post refering to the snow covered CB, having the pressed comstars... not alloy.

I dident relise that the alloy wheels were called comstars aswell.:beer:They are not solid alloy wheels at all thats why they are called comstars :bleh: Alloy boomerang spokes either side riveted to sperate rims and bolted to the seperate hubs-ie deffiinated NOT one piece. I guess it's a bit too technical for you to grasp this time of night.

Various CB900Fs and CB750Fs came out with inverted gold comstars. In fact the dohc 750F I just purchased had them but I instisted on the boomerang style. Much easier to clean. Have had all types myself, having owned a CB400T, CX500C and of course my longtermer CB750Fc2.

models were:
A) 78-80
B) 81-82 (C) the custom :puke:
EC) 82-83 (euro) &TC
ED) 83-84 (650) & TC & custom?

Dont ask me about the imported 400's :rolleyes:Was the same as the B? model, small flyscreen, but the riders portion of the seat was cut down, as from the factory. Definately C or maybe a little c on the ownership papers, done around 50,000kms. Certainly not a custom-not my style- and not a Euro-wasn't keen on monoshocks, still aren't. Thought it was strange at the time. Damn thing kept stopping for no reason in the middle of knowwhere, or may have been the middle of somewhere. After 12 months I traded it in on Gerty. Had her ever since.

Just done some research. My CX500 had the same seat as the US D or "Deluxe" model. According to this it may well have been a "B" as it was an '81 model-
