I see there is a link to the Kiwi Biker homepage in today's weekly Xtra newsletter. Good stuff - welcome to all bikers that have surfed in from the newsletter.:niceone:

Xtra (telecoms internet service provider) email out a newletter once a week to their users advertising some of their products and promotions, and listing some of their favourite web sites and favrourite sites emailed in by others.
Todays one lists Kiwibiker amongst the favourite sites.

I stopped getting the xtra newsletter from Max Newman a long time ago...
I only get URGENT messages from them now.
So any chance and copying and pasting what was written so that we can all read it...
Cheers.

More commonly known as SPAM!
What chance do we have when the ISP's engage in this?

At the risk of "closing the door behind me" I kinda like the growth of the place the way it is. A popularised link to here will could cause an explosion in the local population and cause the place to lose some of it's uniqueness (is that a word?)
New members are a good thing but too many at once may not be.

Unfortunate fact of life for a website that's open to all comers is you can't control how many and when people join, or even who joins. KB as it is at the moment is considerably different to KB as it was a while back and it will continue to change and develop in the future. Unless membership is limited somehow (which is bad as it becomes exclusive and elitist and growth becomes nonexistant) the site has to go with the flow.

Fresh meat. Set The_Dover, inlinefour, SixPackBack, mikey and Zed on them and they'll run screaming. Simple.

Part of the reason I put the thread up regarding having the blogs front and centre on the home page, well Spank modified a post into a thread.

I'd not want to discourage new members. But those that gravitate here of their own accord generally have a lot to contribute over a longer period of time. Having a lot of people just wander in and do whatever would mean the place will turn into a summer camp site. Leave it to the locals most of the year then come in and piss everyone off every now and then. It gets bad enough sometimes with the bitch fights that seem to occur now and then (Although it has been quiet lately)

And this is why I sojourn here
Alone and palely loitering,
Though the sedge is withered from the lake,
And no birds sing.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be. But if you don't ride a 250, haven't abused someone personally and then feigned surprise when the other person takes it personally, or don't blat round with a complete, and I mean complete, disregard for common sense and NZ law your opinion is worth squat on KB right now.
I doubt that more people will make it any better.
