Hi to all! :spudwave:
I'm another of the (so I'm told) large number of guys returning to bikes after a 5 or 10 years absence.
I saw an old '85 Katana 1100 (needs TLC) for sale a few weeks back and just couldn't resist the urge to relive my youth
Only time will tell it that was a stupid idea or not...

As a RMB (returing middle-aged biker) myself it's definintely not a dumb idea! I went through all the usual emotions and questions as to whether I was being silly, but it was the best thing I could have done! You won't regret it, just go easy on the throttle for a while, the 1100 is still a fast bike by todays standards and even on the 'F' I have about twice the power of my previous bikes and gave myself a fright once or twice until I got back into the groove again! How about a pic of the bike? They were a nice machine.:corn:

Welcome Slides!
I am back in the saddle after almost 20 years. I have asked myself "why" several times and have not come up with any answer that made sense - but who cares! :ride:
The best reason I can think of is that bikes make mature guys practically irresistible to women.

Hey Slides & welcome back in the game!
I too was a returning biker & the advice given here is spot on in taking it easy for a start, I know I gave myself a couple of scares before everything begun to bed back in.
One of the greatest rides I ever had was on a silver Katana 1100, this one was the limited edition wire wheel model with fancy carbs & bits. Whoa did it have some get up & go!!!
So have fun & get a pic of the bike up sometime.

Hey there Slides, welcome abord. That Katana should keep you interested in biking right thru winter if you have got good gear.
If you are getting up to it (like me) you can feign a series of mid-life crises and get newer/more bikes as time goes on. I'm just wondering if my wife is going to try the same sometime.

I know what you mean! I scared myself sh*tless on the test ride! The Kat may be old, but it's still got some serious welly!
Will post a pic once I have tidied her up a bit.
And thanks to all for the great welcome!

Welcome back to the two wheel relm Slides, nice bike by the way. Always had a soft spot for Katanas (and no jokes about a peet bog in Taranaki either). Might meet the right katana one day myself!
For now gotta lil honda to turn a spanner on and thats a whole load of fun.
You should come out on the cruisy on a Wednesday night and meet some of the fellow inmates, always fun. See the meetings and events forum under TCWNR Wellington.
Upper Hutt seems to have quite a few bikers dont you think?
