Hi Guys, great deal ahead with a giveaway price, and benefit to KB members!

That's right, the time has come for me to sell the car talked about so much on KB. The car that once adorned the many great KB logos on the KB Rally. Yes, the car that was called the hairdresser's car, but also the car rated as the best value for money sports convertible, by Top Gear. Great handling and feel, and enough performance for NZ roads. It's economical with it's 1600cc engine, as well as being light weight and very cheap to insure.

The specs are:

Make/Model: Mazda Eunos Roadster (MX5 for NZ/UK ppl, and Miata for you US folk)
Year: 1990 (Yes, with the pop up lights)
5 Speed Manual
Odometer: 118K kms
Engine: 1600cc
Color: Blue body, Black Soft Top/Convertible Roof
Sound System: JVC 12 Disc CD Stacker, Removable face plate with tape player, CD stacker in boot. Component Speakers (Front + tweeters) with speakers in headrests.
Alarm & Immobiliser
Central locking (Keyless entry with the alarm keyring thingamabob)
Electric Windows
Power Steering
Air Conditioning (Needs re-filling / regassing / whatever they do to A/C)
Momo Steering Wheel
Soft Top Cover (to fit when roof is folded away/down)
K&N Air Filter
NEW Front tyres, rear tyres with plenty wear left.
Space Saver Spare Wheel (With footpump)

Current WOF and REGO until 7 July 2006

Important Info:

The only serious issue, is the fact that the soft top/roof cover needs replacing. I haven't replaced it myself since the main issue is that it detracts from the looks, which I don't really care about, and that it only leaks slightly (you stay dry!). However, I have enquired into the cost of having the fabric/cover replaced ($900 - $1200), and am subtracting it from the price. That way you can replace it and have a really good car, or save the moolah and ignore the one small section of white tape I've "fixed" it with.:shifty:

I bought the car in March 2001. Since then, up to my accident in June 2005, I have had only 2 issues which caused me to break down / need assistance. The first was a split radiator top/hose, which was replaced and pressure tested, functioning as normal. The second was a blocked fuel filter, which was replaced, and now functions as normal.

I have had regular servicing and maintanance done, and have the receipts for those (as well as the radiator repair from above). Past servicing/maintanance & replaced items include water pump, water hose, cam belt, water pipe, plug leads, clutch slave, Tappet cover gasket, rear disc machining, brake pads and regular oil/filter changes.

The car itself is in very good condition for its year. Upon close inspection there are stone chips on the front bonnet/hood, and a few stone chips/slight scratches on the drivers door. In general, these are only noticable if you know where to look. Mag wheels are in ok nick, not mint and shiny, but perfectly fine when washed properly.

My price to you (Including subtraction of Soft Top replacement)
PRICE: $2000 neg
Preferable payment by Bank deposit (direct/online), Bank guaranteed cheque or Cash. For trusted KB members I will happily work out with you a NO INTEREST term payment plan (monthly payments, deposit and term are very negotiable to suit any individual).

I have to sell soon, as in the next couple of weeks, or I'll trade it in to the dealer when I buy my car (also in the next couple of weeks)

Cheers,
Dave.

PS: Pics of car do not show the condition of the roof accurately. Partly due to angle, and partly due to the pics being old. The body work is showen perfectly :)

PPS: I will insist on the LTSA reccommended procedure of sale of a motor vehicle. That is, correctly changing the ownership of the vehicle, and bringing me the receipt of that transaction. I don't want any of you guys' speeding and parking fines :P

Stonechucker - Nice car and a great price......

All the best in selling her real quick and getting you new car.

I bet it'll go real quick - not like the Jihad....
Colapop - keep trying mate... some poor buggar out there will take pity on you and just take it off your hands..

You know that I did offer you 50 cents for it...:whistle.. but no one, since then has outbidded me.

You're right, it looks like I've just about sold it, in like 5 or 10 mins! Someone actually commented that it's TOO cheap... However, I've checked on the going rates, subtracted the cost for a new roof AND subtracted a nice KB discount. KB and everyone on it has given me much more in memories and friends, than I could possibly indicate here!

Btw, it's not sold yet, just incase anyone is interested.

Dave.

Don't you worry yourself, the Jihad has commited itself to a new cause (owner) and Flash missed out too! Haven't heard much from him lately (not since I sold the Jihad) I think he's sulking coz he missed out!

Good work on the car Dave - must be something about your sales skill that I don't have? Or is it the product?

StoneChucker
28th March 2006, 15:27
Sorry guys, it's 118K, not 108K. I haven't looked at the dash for so long, I was out by 10!

I guess it's the product Colapop, and my advert writing maybe?? Who knows. One thing I do know is how much I'll miss the car, or more precisely, how much I'll miss the life I had when I had the car. I stuck on the stereo and sat there for a while, first time I've been back in the car since my accident (my folks drove it once a week to keep everything ticking over)

Don't worry Dave, you got you're horse to ride now...

StoneChucker
28th March 2006, 16:08
Nope, don't even have the horse anymore... For a number of reasons, it didn't work out (safety to horse, me not being able to do certain care jobs that need daily doing, etc...)

Dave, I'm in the industry and even I couldn't buy one at this price. Fuck me, if I was up your way I'd look at it to put on my yard. But I suppose the idea is to pass it onto a KB'er for a great deal.

THIS CAR IS INCREDIBLY CHEAP - TOO CHEAP EVEN- A GOOD UPHOLSTERY SHOP COULD REPAIR THE ROOF FOR LESS THAN QUOTED - DO NOT LET THIS OPPORTUNITY PASS IF YOU ARE IN THE MARKET

Cute little car, would been keen cept I don't live any where near you. Good luck with the sale though. :niceone:

StoneChucker

It's good to hear from people in the know about this, thanks OneArmBandit:first: And that's exactly the point, a good deal to a KB'er, preferably. It does seem that it might go to a friend of a kb'er though, IF the first couple interested parties pull out. But a friend of yours, is a friend of mine:rockon:

[SARCASTC] EVEN if this IS a car advert on a bike site..... [/SARCASTIC] What was I thinking.:whocares:

cause of petrol prices, car prices are rock bottom at the moment. Unfortunately the reverse is true for <250cc motorcycles for the same reason.

You can get a hell of a lot of car for 5 grand these days.

crap that is a good price. I would happily buy it for the missus if i was in welly! In fact, i will chat to her tonight, is worth a drive to welly at that price.

Don't know about private, but dealer sales are strong and we haven't had to adjust our prices because of fuel. Some people may decide not to buy that larger capacity car or petrol v8 4x4 but there is always someone who needs/wants exactly that. And those that don't buy something smaller.

I would buy it in a snap but that would mean giving up on the bike search :spudwhat: Which i cant really do.

hey MM.
i'm 6'2 and mine has ample legroom.
this is my second MX5 - and i've had this one 8 years.
it's the perfect car for a biker - no roof so you don't get that "in a coffin" feeling.
BUY THAT CAR.
it's a LOAD of fun for $2k.

if you are buying a new roof - go for one with a GLASS rear window.
mine has one and i could never go back to that damn plastic one that goes opaque every two years.
quite a few Kiwibikers have MX5s now or in their past...

I'm pretty sure the car's not gone yet - was talking to SC tonight. Don't know if he'll be back on here cause he got a pretty tactless telling off for this thread (advertising a car on a bike site). If anyone's really keen you could pm me your cell number and I could pass it on. Although chances are SC will check his pms - I dunno.

Stonechucker - Mate you are one dude who has the right to advertise a car on here...:wavey: :wavey:

Who ever is was that sent you a tactless PM to you needs to pull their head in.

For those that don't know, Stonechucker had a really bad accident and is now unable to ride due to injuries sustained from his accident, plus he made a promise to not ride again...
BUT Stonechucker is part of the KB family and always will be.:wavey:

Stonechucker - Please don't be put off by one or two....

Your imput on KB is and always will be wanted.:wavey:
You are a valuable asset to KB.:wavey:
