I met one of those mythical 'good bastard' cops 'tis mornin.
I have this favourate little inner city road where I give it a little welly in 1st through a left and a right. Nothing stupid, but it does make the Micron sing. Anyhoo, I take the right and there's Plod doing breath tests, so I prepare myself for a full and frank discussion about noise. Buggered if he isn't more interested in what the Bandit's like, because his wife doesn't like the seat on his 'Busa.
Good on ya copper, I hope you make Commissioner.

Awesome :)
Yeah, I reckon if we keep tabs on all these good cops, we elect them to the top jobs next time around eh?
I see a future of open road speed limits for all motorbikes, New Zealand becoming the bikers Nirvana of the world, where wheelies will be applauded by all in towns and stoppies will become the mandatory requirement at all traffic lights.
Petrol will be reduced to half value for all motorcyclists and cagers will be charged more for ACC cos they try and kill us all the time.
Umm, I digress.
Good stuff Lou.

It's a lie
He must have filled his quota (key performance indicators) already
He was in a good mood cause he just nailed some innocent biker for doing 59 km/hr
He should have been finding the scumbags who burgaled my house instead of wasting tax payers money doing breath tests in the morning
I couldn't let this "good cop" thread get too far!
Seriously though, I hope all these reports of good cops are the start of a trend!

Starts running out of oomph at about 105 on the display, probably means it is reading a tad fast though, gave me a hell of a fright when I first tried it!!

I was lucky two days in a row - yesterday I was passing all the traffic at the bottom of Onewa Rd, going 'a wee bit fast', and I saw a polis coming from the HP. Luckily there was a sign between us, in his line of sight.
Today, I decided since it was Friday, and I was feeling boisterous, it was HoonDay: no spud in the Satantune, and being hoonish. I was lane-splitting and whatnot (fair bit of that), and when I got to the BP, I switched to the right lane. I was just wondering whether to lane-split the rest of the way, when I see a bike cop parked at the side of the road, writing a novel or tickets or summat. So I idled past him in about third or so, so the Satantune was growly rather than shrieking, till there was a truck/bus/large vehickil between us, and then did the lane-splitting/overtaking/letting rip thang. As you do.
Mebbe I should get me a nice sensible scooter...

Yer that cop is the man. Pulled me over for doing a wheelie on ponsonby road. He let me off after telling me how he like to do mono's on his gixxer 1300. Real good cop just a nice guy who is realist.

Reckon he needs a ride on a new Bandit or GSX1400 there, Lou. Did you invite him in for cuppa and a chat?

Cool. That makes one good bastard cop in Auckland and one good bastard cop in Wellington, all in the space of two weeks!!!
Starting to wonder if there might be some kind of "hush hush" PR campaign underway. Lull the KB lot into a false sense of security for a while, then........

Well, he was eyeing up the Bandit. (I hope it was the bike) But he wasn't matey enough not to give me the sniffer test.

Yep I had a similar thing on my 600 a while back. Heading to work at 7:30 in the morn on a weekend...
approaching the Nelson St. on ramp, thought it was a fine time to change down 3 gears to pop a wheelie, or at least as much of one as I can muster...
the Akrapovic starts making the good noises at 9000rpm, and just as I chop the throttle to compress the forks, ready for lift off, I spy a bunch officers doing a breath check. They'd all heard the bike coming, and were looking at me, so obviously I just quietly steadied the throttle, changed up and coasted down towards them...
half-expecting a big speech and "so, ah, whaddya think ya doin, eh?" from a redneck, I was instead greeted with a big cheesy smile of the 'haaa, ya funny little bastard, just havin some harmless fun, eh' variety. He gave me a half arsed breath test through my balaclava, helmet and chin guard, and sent me on my way.
Good bastard.
