Had an accident with my 2006 Kawa ER6n end of January. The bike went to the Shop and the Insurance approved the repairs in the first week of February.
The Kawasaki dealer reckoned some of the bits had to come from Japan but this would only take 10 working days.
10 working days my ass.............................

Does this happen a lot?
Shit 2 months !!!! I could have swam to Japan and back and gotten the bits myself.
My body has nearly stopped hurting and I need to get my leg over a bike saddle otherwise I am gona get "withdrawal symtoms"

Is this a NZ thing, Or a Japan thing or just an "Patience thing" ??????

For what it's worth... At work we can get product out of Singapore faster than our supplier in Levin.
Second Er6N crash I've heard of now. I hope Kawasaki NZ is stocking up.

Patience is a virtue they say?? Bollocks.

Actually wondered myself if I wouldnt have been better off bringing in the bits from overseas. The problem here is, once the insurance gets involved all decisions are being taken away from the owner and there is a contract between the bikeshop and the insurance. We, the owner of the bikes seem to have very little say. We just have to "Sit it out"

I've ordered some XPD-XP5R boots and I've been awaiting their arrival patiently. I ordered them 6 weeks before christmas.
I'm told they could turn up anytime now. Strangely enough - I don't mind waiting.

At least it ain't critical bike parts I guess, or I'd have been pissed.

Greco- that's not your busted up one sitting at Motorad, Wgtn?
Honda parts are bloody quick. Usually overnight within NZ or if from Japan it can only be a couple of extra days. I've had a part ordered from Japan on a Friday and fitted Monday! Can't complain about that. But Kawasaki are starting to make me wonder. I asked about the snazzy kawasaki crash mushrooms. Answer was Kawa NZ will only be ordering certain parts quarterly so I need to wait a few months. What the hell? Don't they want to sell their own brand of extras, how hard can it be to get a 4 gram part sent.

I was waiting on some non-bike related bits from Korea and after two months
of getting the "It will be there on wednesday" I finaly got sick of it an canceled the order.Another month later an the bits still havn't turned up so I could return them.Kind of odd seeing as how they reckoned they had been sent before I canceled the order.
I depend on reliable service and this sort of shit costs money an makes me look bad with the people I deal with here.
At lest when the Americans say "Seven days an it's in the post "It bloody is".The yanks really have their act togeather, great people to deal with.:niceone:
As for NZ bike shops,we just have to cop it I guess.

When I biffed the Kwaka it was half the price and a lifetime quicker to buy aftermarket clip ons rather than genuine ones. I heard Suzuki were good for parts, but I've never owned or dropped one to try that theory.

Na, bout the same as the rest, odd thing with car parts, if its a Kiwi new one there are no parts around but if its an inport its no prob!
Funny little things like that can make your day!

My experience too.. bought a bike ( 2nd hand ) from Honda in takapuna and found teh disks were warped; They said they'd replace them... yeah right.. 3 months i waited and waited; I told em to go fuck themselves in the end; Traded the bike in at AMPS, who sold me a set pf rotors for the old bike and i gave teh slack fuckers across the shore a reciept and asked for teh cash. Got that there and then.

When theyre getting them from overseas the importer usually waits for the container to be full..An empty or part empty container means a wait for you and me;

i presume you have gone back to the shop you bought it from. hope they've given you another bike to ride while you're waiting for your still under warranty machine to be fixed. if they haven't, i'd be there every day asking when they are going to fix it, and when are they going to give you a bike to ride in the meantime. get onto the insurer - ask them to put pressure on the bike shop. suggest a refund for the weeks that you haven't had the bike under your control (bike shop insurance covers it there.)

it's getting time to start being pissed off. no parts for a brand new bike? coming from japan? 4 flights a day come from japan to nz. it's only 14 days by slow boat. you are being dicked.

here is another crapp deal: When I get the bike back I'll take you for a ride on it and you take me for a "ride" in the Pitts S2 . How's that ???

it won't be in the pitts, although i am rated in it - how about a in a Robin Alpha 160A? fully aerobatic to +9 -6. split the cost - about $180/hr

I saw that one go down on the March TSS ride. Guy was lucky, his bike came to rest between the railroad tracks at the level crossing just out of Featherston on the Western Lake Road. Looked EXPENSIVE and was only 2 months old at the time:doh:

Sounds like he might be waiting on parts a while aye???

While it may not be the bike shops fault, there is provision on the fair trading act that covers you completely here. The consumer guarantees act also backs you up, when it states, and I quote.............

Services

Service providers guarantee their services will be:

* Performed with reasonable care and skill.
* Fit for the particular purpose they were supplied for.
* Completed within a reasonable time.
* A reasonable price, if no price or pricing formula has been previously agreed.

Contact the bike shop in question, and start kicking some ass imo. This is entirely too long for a bike repair, and as others have demonstrated.... way too freaking long to wait for parts.

Don't talk to me about Honda's parts service...

ST dropped on 26 December.
Retrieved by ANZA on 27 December.
Insurance claim completed and lodged on 12 January.
Advised that insurer had authorised repairs on 20 January.
Advised on 6 March that all parts bar two had arrived but that repair work would start anyway.
Advised on 22 March that in the process of completing repairs they had "discovered" that front forks were bent. Insurance had approved new forks and that these had been ordered.
It's now 3 April and I'm none the wiser.

Hardly "express" service, although I concede that there aren't many ST1300s on the road in New Zealand and parts aren't probably routinely stocked by Honda New Zealand. But my expectation had been to have had a bike delivered, repaired, by the beginning of March, not the end of April. Or am I being unrealistic? Not that there's much I can do about it anyway. Except wait. Patiently.

Oh. And around here we kick arse.

This moan is sponsored by the BDOTGNZA.

Even that took a couple of months, because I wanted one with a pattern on. NZ distributors, seethe, fume...

Next time it will be Ebay and overnight courier. Bugger Whites!

Actually I am quite "fluent with the consumers act" and have had some exchanges with the commision. Generally they can do sweet F**%^ -all for us because they have a very small budget to prosecute. They reserve that money and their resources for "important" cases of great public interest............................

Another Act without teeth !!!!!!!!!!!1
