Just got from MCN.The New R6 is the King of the Track. The 675 is a bit suprise that took the 2nc place.Kawa is overall 3rd.The new K6 600 was not as qucik as we thought on the track which only got the overall 4th.

I have attached a PDF file contains the article.

Interesting though, the decidedly track focussed nature of the R6 (rev it's tits off or it doesn't move at all) and the 675 (high, hard rear suspension) contrasting with the Gixxer becoming more user friendly over time. Given that my racing aspirations boil down to "couple of track days would be fun" I suspect I'm going to be in the market for a Gixxer 6 in a couple of months time.

Mind you, there are some bargain 05 R6's around at the moment.

Heh, consider saving yourself two grand:

Or Four and a half cheaper than a GSXR600k6. But you have to ask yourself, would you regret it really?

Dont know how good that is as they state at the top that the triple has a gear indicator and then say the suzi is the only one with one at the bottom, silly editors

Hey dunno what these fellas look like - yesterday I went up to the Yama tent to ask who the rider was and a tiny blond kid who looked about 12 said he was Sam Smith - I thought yeah right...... but he was the only fella there.

IS that Sam Smith???

Hes 18 (I think, he was 17 last year) Hes the tiny blonde kid...I had a talk to him, and the object of the day was to finish running in the bike and get a feel for it... Im betting he cracks the 58's next year...

Sam weas there the w/e before last and he continually passed me on teh back straight wheeling!!! and i was arse up head down hitting teh delimiter on every gear! When we got into the pits, i told him how rude i thought his antics were!!! here.... some pics of Sam on the R6 'Playing' with me and Logan. ON a more serious note he was telling us that the R1 was sat at home 'unused'.. he preferred teh r6 :D

shouldnt the 636 and 675 be tested against the gsxr750 , this class was meant to be 600cc or less

That was his 05 R6... Not the 06 R6 which is even faster...

I reckon its funny testing road sports bikes on tracks full stop...
what the fuck does it mean for people who buy them....shit all...maybe bragging rights about beating another bike in that test.....but fark all of anything more....

I believe the theory runs as thus:

* The 675 is only a triple, not a four. Therefore it's 'fair' in the same way that 600 IL4's give the learn to Ducati 749's. I believe the 675 can race in the 600cc class.
* If you really insist, one can buy a Kwaka ZX6 with a 600cc engine.
* Either which way if you never *really* race, who gives a shit?

WHY DIDNT THEY TEST THE 600THEN , I KNOW NOT ALL RACE BIKE SPECIALS LIKE THE RR ARE NECESARILY GONNA BE BETTER IN STOCK FORM .
ITS ALWAYS BEEN A 600 CLASS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A TWIN , A TRIPLE IS NOT NECESARILY A DISADVANTAGE PARTICULARLY WITH A 75 CC ADVANTAGE .
AREA UNDER THE GRAPH IS EVERYTHING IN THIS CLASS

WINJA- there is a rule for the displacement aparently and the fours can only be 600cc, triples -675cc and the twins 750cc.

im not too sure about that though

Yep that's 100% correct, the 675 is eligable for Super Sport.

The magazine caters to road riders, 99% of these people are going to a 636 over the ZX6rr. In fact in NZ the only way you'll get a ZX6rr is if it's an ex-race bike or privately imported, as Kawasaki don't import them for public sale.

Yep, totally agree with you Poos. But there are a lot of people out whom base a large part of their purchase decision on how bike's perform on the track. Guess they have their reasons.

Personally, I'll have the 675 please. their only real complaint was the gear shift, Triumph gearboxs always take abit of 'running in'. Give it 6000k's and it'll be as good as any of the Jappas, and will continue to improve with time.

WHY DIDNT THEY TEST THE 600THEN
Because it would get it's arse handed to it on a plate, and Kawasaki know this. A better question would be: why do they bother making it in the first place? They must sell, like, eight a year or something.

Because what wins on race day, sells the next day...

The ZX6-RR is actually quite fast, comparable to the 06 R6 and K6 GSX-R plus it has the goodies like slipper clutch etc that make it so good on the track..

Personally i want to see a comparison test of all the 600 Supersport bikes... Excluding the non eligable bikes...

I would be interested too....aparently the zx6rr was the horse power monkey in supersports around the world...seems that handling must be letting them down?....or cash?

AREA UNDER THE GRAPH IS EVERYTHING IN THIS CLASS

on the road I would think that is totally true....but arn't the SS bikes tuned very peaky?
