Folks,
All the international reporting I've read in the last week (I'm in Europe at the moment) suggests the new RSV-R is a really good thing. Have they arrived in NZ yet, and if so, what price are they at? Sarge... Lou... ?

Saw what could have been one at the Puhoi Tavern on Saturday. Brand new, un-registered. Beautiful. Even got favourable comments from the Harley guys.
Doubt if it's in my price range though.

The factory is the one to go as you get thousands of dollars of goodies for only a little more than the rsv-r!

well that has feck all to do with answering my question really Mr Cowpoos... but it might have been an indicator of the financial trouble that Aprilia have been in for the last couple of years, and folks may have been scared to buy not knowing what support there might be from the factory. Now that Piaggio (sp?) have bought Aprilia and can provide some long term stability, we might see more people like me willing to give them a go. Of course there is also the matter of paying a slightly higher premium for a good Euro produced bike rather than the jappers, but it is way cheaper than the Ducati options, especially when it comes to servicing.

Not common practice in this country but they might have to discount the bejasus outa the old ones.
Aprillia make magic bikes and if the price was right they would sell...

Things are only stable in Italy for 5 minutes at a time. BTW the Aprillias are bloody fast V twins. Seen one eating VTR SP's down the back straight at Pukekohe. There's always some one round to support the bikes.

Have riden a Full Spec Ohlins RSVR & I will say its the best V-twin I'v riden . They are NO !! GSXR / R1 / ZX 10 , beater but in their own field would dominate . Still a good buy for a second hand Twin that sports all the fruit standard .

Have seen GSXR / R1 / ZX 10 shown the tail of an rg150 and shitty old zx250 and various other bikes ridden by a few up here, not really the bike that makes the front runner.

I wouldn't mind getting a second hand one in a few years time. A tidy condition 02-03 RSV/R, one of my all time favourite bikes, you can pick up for about 14-18000 now
When I'm 18 and banks take me seriously....

Cycleworld magazine has just done a 2006 all model - best bike of the year shootout!
Including: MV Augusta, ZX10, Gixxer Thou, R6, R1, CBR Thou, Factory etc etc.
Result: Cycleworld Magazine rated the Aprilia Factory as the best bike to buy in 2006.
The Aprilia also wasn't slow either, clocking better test circuit times than the Jap competition (1m52s). But beaten by one second by the MV (1m51s).
So there it is, It beats the R1's and CBR's on a race track. Quite Impressive!

Didnt an Aprilia Factory win the latest Masterbike shootout from Spain or whereever they hold it? Mind you a ZX10R won the last couple so probably irrelevant. Aprilias dont seem to hold there price that well and S/H ones go quite cheapish. Supposedly bloody strong and reliable engine though.

Brand new factory $29K
Brand new RSV-R $25K
Pretty damn good pricing, I would go the RSV-R myself as the only difference between them now is some carbon fibre and colours
