View Full Version : Missing bar end

WEll, I think I've found out why my bikes feels like shit (I hope). No, someone didn't stick a suzuki label on it. One of my bar ends is missing.
There's a bit of a tale to this, being the soft Honda riding wet weather rider I am I installed heated grips last winter. Now the throttle grip is a little longer than stock so the bar end couldn't be screwed in tight, so I locktighted the sucker in so it wouldn't shake loose (Vtwin). Well some well intentioned but ill informed mechanic decided it needed tightening up one day and did so (with the resulting stuck throttle giving me a clench moment just after leaving the shop (where's the road test guys? AAARRRGGHHHH)).
Anyway, the said bar end has now disappeared.:crybaby:
Has anyone
a. Got a better idea on how to deal with this too long grip? Before you say spacers, both the nut inside the bar and the bar end are keyed so washers are no use. No Bruce, a finger won't fix it.
b. Got a spare bar end for a Firestorm that just needs postage?

Impossible to fix that jim. You'll have to buy a gsxr and be done with it.
Ps your bike does cool backfires

You could do what I did on the GB. Get a couple of plastic caps from Para Rubber, remove the existing end cap and Bobs ya aunty.
Got a pick of the handle bar end without the cap? And one of the existing one
showing how it's keyed. The one I have may be suitable.

I might have a spare bar end lying around somewhere in the garge...I'll have a look tomorrow and see if I can find it...if I can...it's yours.

Cheers. Sparky should have ordered one for me by now but if you could have a look anyway that'd be cool as it could be 2-3 weeks for the screw as it's not in stock.

Did it really make that much differnce to your handling? I lost one off the Gix at taupo, didn't notice anything until the grip almost fell off, man that could've been interesting.
Just buy some a/m ones, like oxford, $30 for a pair, hate to think what OE ones are.

This is common, try holeshots or colemans for a cure :wari:
Is yer bar end sorta cut halfway through with a step? (crap description but if it is you'll know) You can get some ally one's and make 'em the same pretty easily, and it'll make the bike FEEL like it's lost 40kg too.
