I have an ongoing problem with my cat. Shes gone half wild after I stopped her sleeping on my new DVD player . Anyway, she has found something much much better. My Bike which is covered up in the carport. At first it was the nice seat, so I covered that in thick cardboard under the cover, then the back seat, so that got covered, then the fuel tank, so last night that got a temporary cardboard cover, BUT now its on the cover between the tank and the fairing tied down between indicators - so its like a kitty hammock to her. Besides the obivious 'Kittycide' final solution, cant you get some sort of spray to stop cats? Can you still get fuel tank covers? Also, does the fuel cap need 'air'. I ask as I was thinking of covering the tank with an old woolen rug which is very thick and then I wont care if shes sleeping here as no scratches at least.

I saw an SV parked up in town yesterday with a leather cover over the tank. The cover was in good condition (looked fairly new) and it covered the whole tank just like it was made for it so yeah I'd say that you'd be able to find one...
There is also a spray you can buy that is supposed to repel cats and dogs, ive never used it but it is supposed to be completely odourless to humans and I think you can buy it at the supermarket. Failing that maybe pet shops or the vets would sell it..
Good luck!
EDIT: man your avatar's ironic! Did you choose it on purpose?

You can buy tank covers, Im sure you don't need to worry about air if the bike is sitting.

Put mothballs in the hollow where the cat sleeps, - cats can't stand them so I would say that would be the end of your problem.
BTW Has worked for me at keeping them from pissing on my bikes wheels.

Just throw a decent rug over the whole bike :) Best to keep the cat inside at night, it's the time they're most likely to get run over :(

I bought some masterpet cat repellant from the supermarket (or was it the Warehouse, I forget), it smells fine, no worse than most household cleaners. It seems to work, but you need to keep using it, or the smell wears off and the cat comes back.

You've got MOTHS pissing on your wheels SD??
"Kitty Spray"
When we got our last cat it was an intact tom. As a kitten he was fine but then he started spraying. Found that a mix of fresh orange juice and water sprayed in those places we wanted him not to visit, worked. I guess it has something to do with the acidity and the cats sense of smell not being compatible.
Hope this helps

Save money. Piss a circle around the bike yourself. Cats are not found of human urine so they tend to avoid the area.

Yeh.. I knew someone would eventually cotton onto that picture and whats happened. I have had that for years and always find it amusing. Sounds like I am not the only one with this problem and I seriously thought everyone would give be bollards and think it was a joke. Its actually seriously starting to piss me off because I have cleared the darn DVD payer again BUT oh no... Miss Pussie just wants my bike now ! Trying to pretend to myself shes actually trying to be a guard cat but I think shes got other female revenge ideas... Shes trained to stay well away from roads and if I let her sleep inside lately she runs all around the house and I get no sleep. Shes called 'The Beast of Berhampore' because she 'yells' at passerbys. Noisy noisy cat.
Thanks for all the help. So whats the answer to those two jokes then??

I had some of that and put it on my garden, my cat started to follow the line i had put down.....
Best bet get an airgun and pop one in its ass when it messes with your ride, My cat took a shit once on my car....... never had that problem again....... (note the hose works just as well)

The cat is only going back there because of it's own smell, (which you've now cleaned off the DVD player :) ).
I've heard that pepper can be used to keep cats away. Either sprinkle some around access routes to the bike, or maybe on a paper towel on the bike.
Probably end up being nicer to your paint work than some chemical spray too.
Ah, a quick Google for natural cat deterrants suggests hot pepper is used in gardens to stop cats digging, (so you don't get any little packages in your vege patch :eek5: ), and it's good because it doesn't upset the chemical balance of the soil.
Hmm... here's an interesting one, cats don't like Essence of Orange. Apparently you can get it at the chemist without a perscription. Bonus is it'll smell nicer than chemical spray.
Yep, moth balls are reported as being good too, (but not in your garden).
Hmm... coffee grinds and garlic are also on the list.

I dragged out a thick woolen rug and put that over the bike cover so it overhung the headlight and top of the tank... she then decided that was OK but just for one day. I found her in the week curled up around my mirror. ANyway, I have had some luck. The landlord replaced my kitchen benches two days ago and these were dumped next to the pile of dirt I regularly dig up for her to use as she prefers that to the kitty litter inside. Shes now left 'her' bike for the benches and curls up on that. Normally she sleeps in the bedroom but the last two months has been really restless and doesnt like staying indoors. Just hoping the cold of winter will sort this out. No, I wouldnt shoot her in the butt nor keep her locked inside every night. Remember, this is the Beast of Berhampore and she has ways of really p'ing you off. Thanks for all the suggestions too.
