You guys know of a good (cheap) insurance company for bikes?

Also, a good (not necessarily cheap, but preferable) mechanic in the Wellington area?

Heya Im insured with Star, they have been really good. When I wrote the GN of they paid out within 2 weeks and I was on the road again within 3 weeks...
TSS are really good guy's, they'll also pick your bike up for free. In saying that all bike shops have there good and bad sides. If I were you id give them all a call and get quotes etc, then go with the one that made you most comfortable. Just my 2c...

There are plenty of threads on Insurance if you have a search. Golightly insurance are a specialist insurer for bikes and my dealings with them have been good. Any bike shops around wellington are generally good. It mostly comes down to waiting times and your location.

My bike is insured with AA. I haven't tested their claims side yet. I use TSS for mechanical work. They're local for me and I like the guys there. Can't say I've really given the other bike shops a thought (or a chance).

I use protecta. They're ok. Used them for 4 years but never had to claim and i guess i never looked anywhere else. Mechanic wise, i guess it depends on what you got and what you want. A couple of months ago, my bike sat in a shop for three weeks without being touched. After being given the run around i went down and by chance, caught a glimpse of my bike, fairings still attached. I walked out back thinking it was ready to go and alas it hadn't been touched. The plates hadn't even been put on. I saw red, jumped it and took off. I think the thing to be careful about is whether the garage knows what they're doing. Specialists cost more per hour labour wise but save more because they tend to know what they're doing.
