Had a very entertaining ride yesterday (24th) supposed to be a ride out West but no-one showed so zapped down to Autobahn to meet the usual suspects for a ride down 22 great ride guys thankyou.
Anyway stop at BP Naruwahia for lunch where everyone split up to go home etc, and myself and saslex decided to do a quick run to Raglan, nice ride but don't like the look/feel of the grooved tarmac on the twistys.
Leaving Raglan promptly get lost and end up doing a bit of a waikato loop
Eventually find our way back to Naruwahia and onto 22 where i see an adventure type bike waitin at intersection give him a quick wave and then see him very shortly afterwards as he pisses past me doing about 80k on the road/dirt/mud work area, smile to myself thinkin wait till we get back on the seal bitch!
But oh the shame, caught him allright but there was no way i was gettin past him through the twistys :o (will understand if you guys ask me to leave site) could have got past him on the straights easily enough but it would have been to embarrassing to have him real me back in through the corners so sat behind for quite awhile then decided to stop and wait for saslex.
Just as i take of my lid the guy comes back as he thought i might have binned it (ever heard of a cager doin that!) have a bit of a chat and a look around his bike (Honda trans-alp 650) when he opens up the top box pulls out a couple of beers from a chilly bag and and a pipe!
Anyway after a good chat we head off again saslex and I deciding to go back through Hanua (should have known better after our earlier Raglan experience)
But after 30mins doing hotlaps around Tuakau lookin for sign to Hanua (in the dark) give up and go for a coffee at Bombay
Cheers saslex great ride/laugh/day

Sounds like you had a blast Chris.
I personally love getting "lost" on back roads. Isn't the reason to go for rides the pleasure, not the destination?

Had a great ride yesterday (24). Left Ak 6.00am , heading to Turangi , thru the fog on Highyway 27 (Boring), then on to Matamata , Tuakau,Tokoroa, down the Western access (The West of Lake Taupo) road (Excellent road) and arrived at Turangi at 9.30. Meet up with a group doing a private tour of a power station. After the tour then headed across the Desert road to Waiouru , then over to Oakune, then National Park then Taumaranui, Te Kuiti, then up the back road road to Pirongia, east Huntly, and back go the boring Hw1 and back to Ak. Weather was great, not a lot of traffic out either.
Total of 815km for the trip. ;)

:sunny: :sunny: Yeah not a bad day, was supposed to do the 09.00 departure from autobahn, but a good mate and I sat up till 02.00 that morning talking shit(as you do)and having a few drinks, so last mniute pms saw a revised departure of 10.00hours, meet Marmoot, Bob, Chris alex and Andrew, lovely morning saw a nice fast pace down 22, minor near miss with flock of turkeys :shit: which marmoot dealt with a nice mono, the odd wait for the back markers, and its in to Naragwhia, bit of a chat with the 09.00 riders, and I spilt from the group off to Hamilton Uni pick up my daughter and spend the day with her.. Finished the day with a nice solo back up 22. :ride:
Thanks for your company guys.

Strange that, it was quite a small one, didn't look like you could get much tobacco in it.
I didn't try though :innocent:

Had a very entertaining ride yesterday
Well Chris, you'll be getting your knee down soon on your new zx-6r if you keep up the momentum with all the kms ridden since you bought it!
A few of us also had an entertaining ride down SH22 yesterday as we saw White Trash and his mate off home to Wellington...as we entered Ngaruawahia WT's mate was lagging at the rear and coincidentally we passed a CBR600 like mine going the opposite direction- well as the story goes Wt's mate ended up detouring and following the other CBR until he realised it wasn't me! Then CK decided to back track and find him, missing him completely, and everyone got a bit muddled up?? Thankfully a few text messages cleared things up and we were all reunited once again at BP Ngaruawahia.
Awesome weather, unlike today, the roads were good except for the odd roadworks and flock of turkeys! I'm wondering when they're going to fill in that huge crater at the top of the hill 2/3rds of the way down 22?

Happy to see someone has found respect for an adventure bike - they truly are the best thing for back roads.

Yeah, i went for a ride round there last week and there are some fairly shady parts.
What about that massive ramp going up that hill (travelling north) that just about gives you air?? That scared the shit out of me.

Good to see that you lot up there had a good w/e riding. But now for a Si tail.
SuzyQ & hubby, Lemans and myself along with a couple of others :wavey: went for a 100k ride to a small rally on sat. Well after clocking Lemans at 220kph on his mk3 thats a 850 (which is bloody good for one of them as my 1100i only pulls 230kph) we ended up at the pub on the rally site.
SuzyQ & hubby were staying the night so the rest of us buggered off and with a small detour to add in a couple of twisties we had a good ride back.
Well now is when it gets interesting for me as Mr suzyQ put his back out that night :yeah: and was unable to ride home on sun so I reluctenly (yeah right  ) put my hand up to ride his bike home.... well someone had to aye?
After getting a ride back up to the site on sun I jumped onto his new Hayabusa 1300.... ohhhhh yeh my arse fitted just right so I was out of there.
Now I dont like 4's as far as I'm conserned they belong in cars :bleh: but this thing is awesome :2thumbsup it pulls down low like a V2 it was very comftable and stuck to the road like shit to a blanket. and believe me those things would do 300 easy at 270 the tap wasent even open all the way :D
Anyhow I took the longest route home I could find and rode around the block of his house till the fuel guage nealy fell of the E My only complaint is that it needs a bigger screen on it and at 14k/L it was a wee bit thiristy.... but hay thats what you pay for HP aye?

It's the kinda thing I like to do - give a sport bike a bit of a shake up on SH22,not check up on him, nah,no way.
